Posted March 3, 200817 yr comment_5428981 Lynch Memphis 8.3 Randy Savage & Lanny Poffo vs. RNR Express (7/16/84) - Early on, Poffo was playing chickenshit feminine heel. Ricky Morton did what he does best (getting his ass beat) and I like how they teased another piledriver spot. The end was kind of weak but this deserves at least a nomination. Bob Orton Jr. vs. Buddy Landel (ICW 7/84) - Orton just squashees Buddy. Jerry Lawler vs. King Kong Bundy ($10,000 challenge) (7/16/84) - The stipulation made this match. There was a lot of stalling from Lawler and cat and mouse so Lawler could survive but it made sense and never became boring as a result. I like how they set it up where it wasn't a matter of if Lawler would lose but when he would lose. I don't recall seeing another match between the two but it is possible one is out there. Randy Savage vs. Rick Rude (9/3/84) - These two have an entertaining match without even locking up. Savage starts it off by not allowing Rude into the ring. He mouths off on the mic and throws popcorn all over Rude. They have a posing contest and finally engage in a test of strength to start the match. Shit, 5 minutes after the match has started, Rude throws Savage out after he gets distracted by Jimmy Hart and rams him into a pole at ringside. What I really like is what Jimmy hart brings to the match. He gives us the initial visual of Savage chasing him out of the arena. Later on, he distracts Savage for Rude to get his first advantage. He takes a chair away from Savage before he can hurt Rude. Hart is the MVP of the match. I don't think this match would be for everyone but I enjoyed the hell out of it. Jerry Lawler & Randy Savage vs. Rick Rude & King Kong Bundy (9/10/84) - Not much to add that hasn't already been said. This will be on the set. Eddie Gilbert vs. Jerry Lawler (12/84) - This is a studio match. There is a lot of stalling for a 5 minute match. It was fun but not nomination worthy. Knoxville Clip from 1980: Orton vs. Garvin - This would be cool to put on a Garvin comp but not much here. RNR Express vs. Nightmares (1/13/85) - This started off with some spectacular double teaming. The RNR were firing on all cylanders and the Nightmares were bumping big. The end was pretty hot with Jimmy Hart throwing in a cane to set up a diving headbutt but Morton moves out of the way and gets the pin. This feels more like a mid-level match. I enjoyed the Nightmares- Mod Squad match more as strange as that may sound but I have no problem nominating this.
