Posted March 5, 200817 yr comment_5429037 This has stuff that isn't all Memphis. I'm just going to discuss the Memphis stuff. Thier is a recap of the Landell/Dundde/Mantell break up angle. Also the Bill and Buddy show stuff is shown. The Letterman/Kaufmann angle on Letterman is shown. This is tremendous and a mortal lock for an extra. Gilbert vs Rich This is a battle of the New Fabs. That was a killer angle and an extra. So far I haven't seen it on the discs I've watched. I love Gilbert as a heel. I loved Gilbert's chicken shit stalling to keep from getting it on with Rich. Gilbert does a shortcut on Rich and begins to work the leg. Gilbert's leg work was good with the stomps, punches, posting, and a toe hold. Now Gilbert goes for the figure 4 to work the leg even more. Gilbert tries a big splash from the 2nd rope and misses, and dings his leg. Rich goes for the leg but Gilbert kicks him off to the turnbuckle. Gilbert is back in control, but it's shortlived. The men battle outside and it's a double countout. This was sorts of awesome, until the crap finish. I understand the reasoning behind the finish though. I still think this is a nomination.
August 2, 200817 yr comment_5433503 Tommy “Wildfire” Rich vs. Eddie Gilbert (8/13/84) This is their first official match post New Fabs breakup. If they didn’t have the mega hate angle to setup this match there wouldn’t have been a big problem with this match but since they did and this match didn’t reflect that hate, it really hurts the overall match. The work was fine here no doubt but it seems like that Gilbert was more into this than Tommy and man is it evident that Gilbert idolized Lawler because he worked this match like a heel Lawler did back in the 70’s. The double countout finish was understandable considering they just started the feud so it wasn’t that bad. I’m going to have to go no on this, which is sad because of the hot angle that setup this match.
