Posted March 7, 200817 yr comment_5429092 International Heavyweight Title: “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert © vs. “Leaping” Lanny Poffo (10/20/84) Gilbert is working this in street clothes meaning a 80’s airbrushed jersey shit and black leather pants that Eddie said cost $150. They had a fun little match that included a great spot where Poffo tried to slingshot Gilbert back in the ring as he was on the apron but Gilbert reversed and slingshot Poffo to the floor. Gilbert then gave him a bodyslam on the floor followed up by a beale. Gilbert would soon follow with an atomic drop on a sitting steel chair. Gilbert would miss a diving elbow drop giving Lanny the chance he needed and he went on the offense hitting a moonsault but Calhoun was occupied with Jimmy Hart so Gilbert threw Poffo over the top rope but he skinned the cat and knocked Gilbert into Calhoun. Poffo then got the O’Connor Roll with a bridge but Hart would jab his cane into his chest leading to Gilbert putting him in the figure-four. Savage would then run out and chunked Gilbert out of the ring for the DQ. I tell you what this was a lot of fun and I’m throwing this on the block.

I think this should go on as a low-end nomination as a chance to see Poffo and Gilbert in action. Man, if only we could get a 15 minute arena match out of these two.
