Posted March 8, 200817 yr comment_5429134 ICW #72 Mike Sharpe, Jerry Bryant and Plowboy Frazier vs. The New Generation and Tojo Yamamoto - Frazier squashes Yamamoto to end this one. Jimmy Valiant vs. The Assassin (Hair vs. Mask) (Lawler handcuffed to Paul Jones) - I have to admit that Valiant is great at starting matches off. In this one, he frustrates Assassin who goes outside, Jimmy catches him and slams him in the ringpost. He then grabs the rope that separates the crowd and chokes Assassin with it. This is the Valiant I like watching. He then tosses the Assassin in and crotch posts him. All within the first two minutes. Valiant then applies the sleeper and after he is tossed off, he misses the big elbow allowing the Assassin to take over. While Assassin's bearhug offense isn't going to set the world on fire, Valiant is such a sympathetic babyface, the crowd stays hot as Valiant fights out with punches. Later on, Jones and Lawler get the referee's attention. This allows Assassin to load the mask and knock Jimmy out with the headbutt. He hides the object so when the ref checks his mask, there is nothing there. Assassin can't put Valiant away so he tries a top rope splash and misses. This allows Valiant to make his comeback and get the pin to a huge reaction. I have to admit that I enjoyed the hell out of this match. This may be one of Valiant's best singles matches and I am not afraid to admit it. Lanny Poffo vs. George Weinergoff - Poffo wins in short order with the slow motion hurrancanrana. Adrian Street, Mr. Wrestling and Eddie Gilbert vs. Randy Savage, Lanny Poffo and Joe Lightfoot - Already reviewed and approved. We just have to see if one is more complete than the other. This version went almost 18 minutes.

March 30, 200817 yr comment_5430183 Jerry Bryant, Playboy Frazier, & Iron Mike Sharpe vs. Bart & Brad Batten, & Tojo Yamamoto (3/4/85) Frazier hits Tojo with something to knock him out and get the win. Hair vs. Mask: “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant vs. Assassin #2 (Hercules Hernandez) (4/2/84) I didn’t know they did this match in Memphis as they did it all around the Carolinas but the difference here is that Jerry Lawler is handcuffed to Paul Jones and not Dusty. Valiant goes nuts to start this match and he throws Assassin into Lance Russell and uses a steel chair before going to the sleeper. Assassin would soon get the advantage and started working on Valiant with a bearhug but Valiant fights out of it using punches and the fans go nuts. Assassin would load up his mask to headbutt Valiant as Paul Morton was occupied with Lawler & Jones but gets rid of it before Morton can see it. Assassin would miss a variation of a frog splash from the top rope and Valiant would make his big comeback finishing him off with his diving elbow drop. Valiant would unmask Assassin as Hercules Hernandez, which is what happened in every one of their matches. This was a pretty good match for a Valiant match at this time of his career and I think this goes on the block for discussion. “Leaping” Lanny Poffo vs. George Weingroff (no date) Pretty decent little match with Poffo winning. Sam Menacker on commentary is always fun in it’s own way. Chief Joe Lightfoot, “Leaping” Lanny Poffo, & “Macho Man” Randy Savage vs. “Exotic” Adrian Street, “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, & Mr. Wrestling (Tommy Gilbert) (3/4/85) Mr. Wrestling takes a lot of bumps early here for Lightfoot and Savage is nuts here as he steals someone’s hat and cane before posing in the ring causing the heels to all drop from the apron to regroup. Savage then lays down begging for someone to come in, which Street does who with the help of Miss Linda & Gilbert takes the control of the match. Savage takes a huge bump off the top rope to the floor and then Gilbert just drops him on the table before Street comes off the apron hitting Lightfoot who as trying to protect him. Savage tries to comeback but Gilbert tags in and keeps up the pressure before tagging Street back in. Savage would eventually get the hot tag to Lightfoot who goes to town on the heels knocking them all out to the floor. The numbers game would catch up to Lightfoot who would take a pounding especially from Street who just lays in the shots. Savage would soon get the hot tag and he want to war on everybody before it turned into a 6-way brawl. Savage would miss a running shoulderblock on Wrestling and hit the post but when the Gilberts hit a spike piledriver on Poffo, Savage would come off the top rope with a diving axehandle on Wrestling to win the match. Very fun match and this is a definite nomination.
