March 28, 200817 yr comment_5430137 All interviews on disc 2, I don't see any reason to put on the Ventura interview. Didn't think Ventura was good at all
March 28, 200817 yr comment_5430138 Is this the same as the 2 discs just labelled Memphis '83 that I sent you? The listings look familiar. If so, how does the VQ compare?
March 28, 200817 yr Author comment_5430145 All interviews on disc 2, I don't see any reason to put on the Ventura interview. Didn't think Ventura was good at all It might not go on if I make a collage of wrestlers who moved through Memphis quickly for one shot only appearances. I may also do a When they Were Young extra for guys like Al Snow in ICW, Taker as Master of Pain, Shogun and Samurai, etc. When I put EXTRA next to something, it only means it is under consideration, not that it is a vote of confidence. It makes it much easier for me to find something than it did when I did Mid South where I had to go through each post one by one.
March 29, 200817 yr comment_5430147 Ditto, though Jesse was already a star at this point (albeit pre-WWF).
March 29, 200817 yr Author comment_5430148 Yeah, Jesse is not part of the When they Were Young segment. I was thinking of dropping interviews from guys like him, Hansen, Patera, Bock who came in for a series and disappeared about as quick as they got there.
March 29, 200817 yr comment_5430161 I wouldn't include Bockwinkel, he came in on and off for a decade as world champion.
May 23, 200817 yr comment_5431497 Highlights on these discs. CWA TV Title: Tom Prichard © vs. Cowboy Frankie Laine (7/9/83) Laine was hitting pretty hard here but Prichard would get the win as he got tossed over the top rope for the DQ. They would brawl after the match. The Grapplers come out and steal the WFIA Tag Team of the Year trophies that belong to the absent Fabs. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. The Grapplers (Tony Anthony & Len Denton) (7/9/83) This was all-action while it lasted but the Grapplers would walk off with their stolen trophies losing by countout. Andy Kaufman makes his debut at WMC Studios and this is a slam dunk extra as part of the Lawler/Kaufman saga. Then they show highlights of Lawler vs. Hart/Kaufman at MSC on 7/4/83. Next are clips of the Moondogs turning on Bobby Eaton at MSC on 7/4/83 and it ends up with Eaton & Stagger Lee running off the Bruise Brothers & Hart in the studio. Giant Rebel (Stan Frazier) vs. Ken Raper (7/16/83) Next to Playboy Frazier this is my favorite Frazier gimmick. Fabs come out wanting the Grapplers to bring out their trophies and they do but they break them. Extra material. (7/23/83) Then we get clips of Dutch/Laine from MSC on 7/18/83. Next is more of the Lawler/Kaufman feud and all of this extra material. Jimmy Hart brings out his newest charge in Buddy Landell. (7/30/83) Eaton comes out wanting Jimmy Hart but Jimmy says that he has to beat the Moondogs in singles matches first. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton vs. Moondog Rex (7/30/83) Eaton hangs tight with Rex then gets an inside cradle to win. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton vs. Moondog Spot (7/30/83) Rex would run in for the DQ and the Dogs beat Eaton bloody with their bones. Stagger Lee would make the save. Fun stuff and extra material. Andy Kaufman cuts a promo with his facial injuries and another extra. CWA TV Title: Tom Prichard © vs. Stan “The Lariat” Hansen (7/30/83) Hansen uses his feet to get the win but he is great here. Next we get clips of the Assassins/Idol & Lawler from MSC on 7/25/83. Jimmy Hart announces that Jim Cornette is the new VP of the First Family with more Andy Kaufman and this is a slam dunk extra. (8/6/83) The Moondogs video which is a definite extra. (8/6/83) There is a great feature on the Fabs from WMC that is a definite extra. (8/13/83) Eaton/Sugar/Taylor vs. Giant Rebel (Frazier/Pat Hutchinson/Jesse Owens (8/20/83) The jobbers are getting a tryout for the Family and they fail miserably then Hutchinson would get another shot later in the day against Tommy Rogers and loses again. This is funny. “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey & “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell vs. Jim Jameson & Tom Prichard (8/27/83) Jameson takes some serious bumps on his neck here with Condrey suplexing him on the ropes with Jameson falling on his head then Landell slamming him head first on the top rope.
