Posted March 28, 200817 yr comment_5430098 Masa Fuchi vs. Toshiaki Kawada (PWF Jr. Title, 9/15/87) - Early on, they set this up as Fuchi getting the better of the young Kawada. Fuchi controls on the mat and counters any attempt by Kawada. However, Kawada gives us a glimpse of his stiff nature with a nice clothesline. Unfortunately, Kawada does not appear to be able to follow up with anything interesting and relies heavily on the chinlock. The end run was really fun with both guys trying to put each other away. However, it goes to the outside and Kawada hits a German suplex outside and when he tries to follow with a plancha, Fuchi moves out of the way and into the ring. At this point, Fuyuki comes in and attacks Fuchi. Is this the beginning of Footloose? I am on the fence as far as the match goes. It had some nice stuff from Fuchi early on and the hot ending. However, it also had a lost Kawada and the crap ending. I’ll nominate it for discussion but I don’t think it goes far. (AJC 155)
May 6, 201015 yr comment_5450529 Kawada's leopard print tights got this halfway to a nomination by themselves. But seriously, I had a different take on the opening part of the match than Will. I thought Kawada did a nice job of hitting his impact offense. Fuchi was the one who struggled to put his stamp on the match. I was worried that it would be five minutes of Kawada offense, three minutes of Fuchi offense and then a finish. But no, they produced a pretty exciting finishing run during which they appeared to have found the same page. I wish Fuchi had played his veteran torture master role a bit more but que sera sera. The interference ending sucked, and I didn't have a strong reaction to the match overall. But it was Kawada's first noteworthy singles outing and interesting enough to fall on the yes side of the fence.
July 6, 201015 yr comment_5452765 PWF Jr. Heavyweight Title: Masa Fuchi © vs. Toshiaki Kawada (9/15/87) This is Kawada's breakthrough match and yes his leopard print tights were fabulous. Good stuff to start but it didn't really kick in until Fuchi hit a backdrop suplex then went for an enzuigiri with Kawada doing a complete 180 bump for followed up by a piledriver. Kawada answered back with a slingshot plancha to the floor followed up by a German for a nearfall and this is when it got really fun as both men were going all out trying to get the win. Kawada fucking up the enzuigiri spot bump though wasn't good but he made up for it with a German Suplex on the floor but would miss with another slingshot plancha. After an enzuigiri by Fuchi on the floor, Ricky Fuyuki would attack him as he got back in the ring for the DQ then Footloose pounded on him until being pulled apart. This was fun and a key match for Kawada so I'll give it a yes but not an overwhelming one.
