Toshiaki Kawada vs. Kenta Kobashi (7/1/89)

- This was fun to watch these two early on as they practice some head dropping in preparation for their 90s battles. Kawada ends it with a dragon suplex after kicking out of a Kobashi high-arching German suplex. I wouldn’t hesitate to put it on a Kawada or Kobashi comp for historical purposes but it isn’t a nomination.

Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith vs. Dan Kroffat & Doug Furnas (5/20/89)

- Davey Boy looks really off here. In his first sequence, he doesn’t botch anything but he seems to be just a step off. Later on, it just seems like these guys can’t pull off their fancy counters and moves without looking telegraphed. They also don’t appear to be on the same page. This was a letdown and the previous match between the two was so much better. Dynamite end sit with a flying headbutt. No vote.

Jumbo Tsuruta & Yoshiaki Yatsu vs. Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith (PWF/International Tag Titles) (5/24/89)

- Another average 1989 Bulldogs match. As expected, their work in the middle of the decade was so much better. You can tell DK is a shell of his former self. Jumbo pins Davey after he collides with DK in the Wrestlemania 2 spot. With the amount of high-quality tags that will be on this set, this doesn’t deserve consideration.

The future megastars collide here in their younger stage and you get some glimpses of what's to come. Fun little match but not a nomination.

The British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith) vs. The Can-Am Express (Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat) (5/20/89)

This definitely wasn't like their Korakuen match and I think that the fans in that match motivated these guys to put on such a high quality match. This crowd wasn't nearly as hot as Korakuen and these guys weren't as sharp here. Not a nomination.

AJPW World Tag Titles: Jumbo Tsuruta & Yoshiaki Yatsu © vs. The British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith) (5/24/89)

DK just physically looks like he shouldn't be in here with these big guys but the fans were into him going against them though. The fans were into everything in general here which was a plus and made the match seem better than what it was. The Dogs weren't at their best here although they still had a good match with the champs but not enough for a nomination.
