Posted April 13, 200817 yr comment_5430645 Once again from my personal collection. Lance & Lawler talk about his first week back in action and show his entrance at MSC on 12/27/80. (1/1/81) Austin Idol does an interview with Lance talking about his match with Lawler from MSC on 1/15/81 talking about all the cheating that was going on with Jerry Calhoun along with Jimmy Hart saying that he was in cahoots with Lawler. This leads to a match on 2/2/81 at MSC with Jimmy Hart being banned from ringside. (1/31/81) Southern Heavyweight Title Tournament – Finals: “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant vs. Hector Guerrero (1/24/81) Hector attacks Hart at the start of the match and Valiant KO’s him in the back of the head with a foreign object but he doesn’t want help from Eddie Gilbert & Koko Ware, he just wants to fight. They ring the bell and Valiant just pounds on Hector before dropping a diving elbow winning the title in a minute. Hector then gives a promo the next week asking for a rematch. “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant vs. Tom Maley (1/31/81) Squash. Valiant then cuts a promo after the match on Hector & Dundee challenging Dundee to wrestle him for the title on TV. Dundee comes out for a fight and he works over Valiant before the Bounty Hunters (David & Jerry Novak) attack him. It’s 3-on-1 as they start cutting Dundee’s hair before Hector & Rich could make the save. This could be extra material. Lawler comes out and they show highlights of him throwing Jimmy Hart’s gold record into the Mississippi River. This is a definite extra. (1/31/81) Next we get the video of the Lawler/Valiant feud that shows Valiant beating Lawler’s ass that we already have. (2/14/81) Southern Heavyweight Title: “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant © vs. Hector Guerrero (2/14/81) Here is their big TV rematch. Valiant dominates early but would miss his patented diving elbow giving Hector a chance for an offensive attack. The ropes are very very flimsy here and as Hector goes for a monkey flip, Valiant holds onto the top rope and hits him with a foreign object as Hart has Calhoun distracted to win the match. Next we get highlights of Dundee/Rich vs. Bounty Hunters from MSC on 2/9/81. Dundee & Rich then come out talking about the fracture that Rich suffered in his wrist. (2/14/81) The “Diamante Negro” angle is up next. (2/14/81) CWA TV Title: Koko Ware © vs. “Dirty” Dutch Mantell (2/21/81) Dutch steps in for Wayne Ferris who was stuck in Puerto Rico. This is a good back and forth match with Dutch looking great and Koko throwing great punches along with a hot studio crowd. Dutch would win the match after dropping Koko on the top rope neck first then hitting a diving elbow for the win. The match goes 5:11 and I’m going to throw this on the block because it was all-action. Next we get highlights of Idol/Dutch vs. Jarrett/Tojo from MSC on 7/28/80. Then we get clips of Dundee & Rich as a tag team. (2/21/81) Next we get clips of Lawler vs. Jack Brisco from MSC on 3/16/81 and it looked like a damn good match. Then we get the Dundee/Rich vs. Idol/Dutch match that’s already nominated. Lawler comes out and talks about wanting to have a loser leaves town match with every member left of the Hart Family. (3/28/81) Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Gypsy Joe (3/28/81) Joe goes after Lawler’s bad leg early and really takes it to Lawler for a short time before he would get it together and dropped the strap. Lawler starts pounding on Joe until The Angel & Hart run in making it 3-on-1. They beat Lawler with a steel chair before Lawler makes his own save and clears the ring. Very fun stuff. Next we get clips of Lawler/Funk from MSC on 3/23/81. Hart comes out and declares the First Family dead since Lawler got rid of Angel & Gypsy Joe at MSC on 3/30/81 then shows clips from said match. Lawler brings out his crying towel after Hart leaves. We have this elsewhere and better quality. (4/4/81) Hart returns with his new charges Ali Bey & El Toro who attack Lawler as he is beating one of the Bounty Hunters before the faces clean house. (4/4/81) Next we get a video of Lawler beating on the Funk Brothers in consecutive weeks at MSC from 3/23 – 3/30/81. This video is pretty damn good. (4/4/81) Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. David Price (4/11/81) Squash.
May 11, 200817 yr comment_5431232 It opens with Lance and Lawler talking about his return. This came across as special. Idol on the mike. Just another good segment with clips of a match between Lawler and Idol. Jimmy Valiant vs. Hector Guerrero This was just an angle for the most part. A Valiant squash is next that leads to a neat angle. A possible extra is next with Lawler throwing Hart's record in the Mississippi. A video of Valiant handing Lawler his ass is next. Jimmy Valiant vs. Hector Guerrero This was ok but nothing special. Highlights of Dundee/Rich vs. Bounty Hunters is up. The “Diamante Negro” angle is up next and this is an all time classic angle. Koko Ware vs. Dutch Mantell This was fun where both men looked good. This was worked at a fast pace. I liked this but it was a bit on the short side. I don't think it is nomination, but would like to see these men get about 12 minutes and see what would happen. Idol/Dutch vs. Jarrett/Tojo is in highlight form. Next we get clips of Dundee & Rich as a team. Lawler vs. Jack Brisco is in highlight form. Dundee/Rich vs. Idol/Dutch match that’s already nominated is up. I have commented on this in the matches folder. Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Gypsy Joe I thought this was fun stuff. Lawler/Funk clips are up next. We get a video of Lawler beating on the Funk Brothers in consecutive weeks fun stuff. The Hart crying angle is up. This is awesome. Their are a couple of other things on the disc.
