Empty Arena Match: Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Terry Funk (4/6/81)

 

This is the full unedited version of this match and a slam-dunk nomination.

 

Next we get the end of a Dutch Mantell/Wayne Ferris match from WMC on 6/13/81 with Kevin Sullivan jumping into the match along with Steve Keirn & Roy Rogers.

 

Lance Russell asks the main wrestlers both faces and heels about their dream matches and culminates with Lance at the infamous First Family Picnic where everyone is drunk especially Jimmy Hart. Home run extra. (6/20/81)

 

Jimmy Hart comes out with his newly won Southern Heavyweight Title in a celebration promo then a retort by Lawler explaining how he lost the title at MSC on 6/22/81. (6/27/81)

 

Then we get highlights of Keirn vs. Chick Donovan from MSC on 6/22/81. Chick then comes out in a very depressed state talking of retirement until Hart comes out and pumps him before offering him a spot in the First Family and a duet of We Are Family. This is extra material. (6/27/81)

 

Next we get highlights of the Lawler/Jimmy Hart rematch from MSC on 6/29/81. This was a No DQ, No Time Limit, Lumberjacks that were all faces match. Lawler does his best to break Hart’s leg and injures him. Then we get a video of Hart in the hospital. More extra material. (7/4/81)

 

Then we get highlights of the Keirn/Chick rematch from MSC on 6/29/81.

 

CWA TV Title: Kevin Sullivan © vs. Steve Keirn (7/4/81)

 

Keirn comes out blazing just taking it to Sullivan but the tide would turn after a missed running shoulderblock into the ringpost. Sullivan would then hold Keirn so the rest of the First Family could run in for an attack until Dundee & Lawler would come out but they would post Dundee bloodying him. The faces were still outnumbered until Dream, Dutch, & Koko would make the save. Fun stuff.

 

Dream Machine, Jerry “The King” Lawler, & “Dirty” Dutch Mantell vs. Masa Fuchi, Atsushi Onita, & Tojo Yamamoto (7/4/81)

 

Lawler is subbing for the injured Dundee. This was going along fine until the First Family ran out again in full force for the DQ. It was 7-on-3 until a bandaged Dundee cleaned house with a baseball bat. Dundee grabs Sullivan’s bodybuilding trophy and threatens to smash it then does. This was fucking great and joined up with the previous match a definite extra. Memphis was on fire starting around this time.

 

The First Family comes out for a promo with Jimmy Hart back in the studio saying that he would defend his title on TV against Chick Donovan.

 

Southern Heavyweight Title: Jimmy Hart © vs. Chick Donovan (7/11/81)

 

They roll Hart into the ring and he hobbles over to Chick who lays him down with Nightmare # 1 counting the pinfall. The Family declares Chick as the new champion who then cuts a great promo and this is a definite extra.

 

Dream Machine & Dutch Mantell are out cutting a promo about the Nightmares when Tojo comes out with Fuchi & Onita challenging them to a match, which of course would lead to an attack that ends up with Dream & Dutch being bloodied until Keirn comes out to help them clean house. (7/11/81)

 

Jimmy Hart & Chick Donovan come out both on crutches and the Nightmares (Ted Allen & Danny Davis) come out unmasked after losing them at MSC on 7/13/81. Then we get video of Ferris & Sullivan quitting the promotion in the MSC locker room after losing the Southern Tag Titles to Dundee & Lawler. They comeback with the Nightmares back with their masks on and Jimmy Hart rejuvenating the First Family as he has called his reinforcements in former Family members and the newest member in Bugsy McGraw. Definite extra material. (7/18/81)

 

Next we get highlights of the Southern Heavyweight Title tournament from MSC on 7/20/81 followed up by a promo with Hart & Bugsy McGraw who won it. (7/25/81)

 

Hart comes out and announces that Chick Donovan is the new Vice President of the First Family and he brings out the newest charges in The Heartbreakers (Joey Cagle & Rocky Sortor). Lawler then comes out and says that whenever he sees Hart he is going to beat the hell out of him, which he does here. This sets off a fucking tremendous brawl that would kickstart a gang war that would take place over the next few weeks. Definite extra. (7/25/81)

 

The Heartbreakers (Joey Cagle & Rocky Sortor) vs. Pat Hutchinson & David Price (7/25/81)

 

Hart comes back out saying that he was molested so that of course brings Lawler back out and the war continues.

 

Next we get highlights of a Bullwhip Ladder Match between Dutch & Tojo from MSC on 7/20/81.
