Posted April 18, 200817 yr comment_5430743 2 out of 3 falls for the Southern Tag Titles: The Midnight Express (Norvell Austin & Dennis Condrey) © vs. “Outlaw” Ron Bass & Carl Fergie (6/26/82) The first fall was dominated by the MX who looked really solid but Fergie got a flash pinfall to win it. The second fall started with more of the same but Bass would come in and they started working on Norvell’s left arm stretching it on the mat. Condrey would tag in and they started working on his arm but the MX would turn the tables on Bass. Fergie would get the hot tag though and started firing up but Hart would hit him with the cane and Condrey would get the pin to even the falls up but TV time would run out making this a draw. I tell you this was a damn good match and really long so I’m throwing this up on the block for consideration.
May 16, 200817 yr comment_5431331 MX vs. Ron Bass and carl Fergie I'm digging how the faces control the beginning part of the match with some good arm work. I'm digging condrey here. Norvell Austin is great as well. The Mx are just taking it to Fergie. Their was a hopespot or 2 here. Fergie gets a flash pin on condrey because of Dennis hotdogging it. In the 2nd fall the faces go back to the arm work that was established in the beginning of the 1st fall. Bass was figure 4ing Austin's arm while attempting the pin attempt. That was freakin cool. I think the faces are great at focusing their attack on the arms of the MX. All the arm work makes sense in the story that is being laid out. They are trying to kill the clock since they are up 1 fall to 0 and would get the titles if the 2nd fall ends in a draw. The heels cheat a get the duke. This was good stuff and should get a nomination.
August 2, 200817 yr comment_5433510 - Fergie and Bass are really bland, I mean Batten bland. I can see why the Austin and Condrey team never maintained because they basically play the same role. It is no surprise both were part of better teams when they got the high-flying flashy partners. This was a solid match and I can’t really complain about anything but I don’t see this ranking very high because it lacks a really memorable sequence or finish or angle. I enjoyed the Mantel/Stark match better because Dutch is better than Bass and Fergie combined and the story in the match was clearly defined.
August 4, 200817 yr comment_5433588 I am with Will here, this was endless and kind of dull, I liked the Bass v. Norvell matwork, but this doesn't do for it me
