Posted April 19, 200817 yr comment_5430760 VQ on this disc is spotty, fun stuff here 1st disc Bill Dundee v. Larry Latham This is a ten minute Dundee singles against a solid opponent. They seemed to be doing a lot more amature stuff at this point in the promotion, as the first couple of minutes was takedowns and scrambles, Dundee misses a kneedrop and sells his leg as Latham works on it. Fun stuff and worth a look Ricky Morton v. Sonny King This won't be everyones cup of tea, but I dug the fuck out of it. 10 minute draw worked entierly on the mat, with both guys struggling for counters and control. King was working slightly heelish as he would hesitate to break. Really amusing to see Memphis as a promotion built around amature wrestling, but that is really the mid 1980 feel. I am nominating this Couple of amusing angles on this disc too. Dr. D and Dennis Condrey bring out a cake to celebrate their one year anniversery as a team, and a cake in wrestling is a cake in wrestling. Also Terry Sawyer and Buddy Fuller come out to talk about their wrestling camp, ex-Student Danny Davis comes out and challenges Sawyer, more RPW memphis style before the Bombers run in, and Buddy Fuller cleans house, fun stuff. Disc 2 There is a fun Tony Boyles/Ricky Morton v. Bombers match which ends with Bomber bloodying Ricky Morton and Paul Morton running in to try to make a save and getting bloodied too. A step below a disc match Bill Dundee v. Paul Ellering Easily the best Paul Ellering match ever, another fun 10 minute Dundee studio singles, lots of nifty stuff here, inlcuding Dundee bridging and twisting out of pins, and a nasty headbutt out of a bearhug. Ellering sucks, but didn't drag this down. I liked this better then the Latham match, and I am nominating it.

July 14, 200817 yr comment_5432969 “Superstar” Bill Dundee vs. Larry Latham (4/19/80) It’s always keen watching Latham before he became a Moondog plus he bleeds from a previous wound on his forehead. Dundee looks great here with his armwork on the mat plus his usual offense with great punches and good selling. Latham is good at taking punishment so he makes Dundee look good but he also dishes it out here as well especially when Dundee misses his diving kneedrop. Latham works over the right knee good as the studio crowd is hot for Bill to come back. Dundee would start firing back but tried a bodyslam which hurt his knee again but as Latham threw him into the corner, Dundee would jump up and spring off with a 180 splash to get the win. This was a really soild TV match and I think it should be on the block. Dennis Condrey & David Shultz vs. Ricky & Robert Gibson (4/19/80) This went a couple of minutes before time expired which sucks. It sucked because Lance fucked up his timing and stopped the match early so they showed clips of a match between Dundee & Ali Hassan from Jackson, TN. Sonny King vs. Ricky Morton (4/26/80) This is quite the interesting match as it is very mat based working holds and counters with both men looking pretty slick. Morton is really good here at being the beginner of the chain with King being just as good at doing what he can to counter either cleanly or not. Morton would get the first highspot of the match at the end with a sunset flip but TV time ran out for a draw. I liked this for what it was but I’m torn on a nomination. Dr. D & Dennis Condrey come out with a cake eating it talking shit on Steve Regal & Jimmy Valiant so of course the faces come out and the heels end up with cake on their face. Extra material. (4/26/80) Then we get the Terry Sawyer/Buddy Fuller/Danny Davis angle which is really cool and is extra material and in better VQ on one of the previous discs. The Blonde Bombers (Wayne Ferris & Larry Latham) vs. Ricky & Robert Gibson (4/26/80) Short but good action. Disc 2 Dennis Condrey & David Shultz vs. Tony Boyles & Ricky Morton (5/3/80) Too bad we don’t have more of the Condrey/Shultz team on tape. We get highlights of Bock vs. Dundee for the AWA title on 5/5/80 and this looked great. The Blonde Bombers (Wayne Ferris & Larry Latham) vs. Tony Boyles & Ricky Morton (5/10/80) The angle after the match with Ricky and father/referee Paul Morton getting bloodied by the Bombers is extra material. Then we get clips of Fargo/Rocky vs. Ellering/Sonny King from MSC on 5/5/80 featuring the babyface turn of Sonny. Later we get clips of Rocky/Valiant winning the Southern tag titles from Condrey/Shultz at MSC on 5/12/80. “Superstar” Bill Dundee vs. Paul Ellering (5/17/80) Dundee again looks great here as he carries Ellering to the best TV match he had at this time in his career and maybe ever. Dundee would take everything Ellering had but would finally lock in the sleeper that wouldn’t last long because Jimmy Hart hit him in the back. Ellering then tries to put away Dundee but he fights back although as he tries for his 180 splash off the rope, he hit Paul Morton by mistake. Ellering then picks up Dundee holding him up for Hart but Sonny King comes out and takes Hart away thus letting Dundee get a schoolboy on Ellering to get the win. Very fun match and moves forward.
