Posted April 19, 200817 yr comment_5430762 This won't be everyones cup of tea, but I dug the fuck out of it. 10 minute draw worked entierly on the mat, with both guys struggling for counters and control. King was working slightly heelish as he would hesitate to break. Really amusing to see Memphis as a promotion built around amature wrestling, but that is really the mid 1980 feel. I am nominating this Memphis 5/80-7/80 disc #1

July 14, 200817 yr comment_5432971 Sonny King vs. Ricky Morton (4/26/80) This is quite the interesting match as it is very mat based working holds and counters with both men looking pretty slick. Morton is really good here at being the beginner of the chain with King being just as good at doing what he can to counter either cleanly or not. Morton would get the first highspot of the match at the end with a sunset flip but TV time ran out for a draw. I liked this for what it was but I’m torn on a nomination.
July 28, 200817 yr comment_5433331 Thisnis completely surreaL. I can see including this on its own merits OR for the novelty factor. Seriously, this was one of those matches where I think the super close-up camera that was prevalent in the 1979-80 studio really does this match justice. You can feel the burn with each elbow rubbed against the face or each joint being twisted out of place. If I was in the studio, it would look like two guys rolling around but the camera reall does the match justice. Nomination. I am pretty sure we don't have this stuff in better VQ but this might give someone a siezure with all that jumping.
