Posted April 21, 200817 yr comment_5430783 No matches make a set, although there is a fun shortish Dundee/Mantell v. Travis/Frank Morell tag. The second show has the Jerry Jarett retirement speech, which we might want as an extra to set up Landell and Dundee taking out his eye, and the Mantell split with Buddy and Bill which is in great VQ.
July 28, 200817 yr comment_5433318 The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. The Undertakers (2/15/86) Squash. “Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol vs. Tony Falk (2/15/86) Idol comes out before the match saying that he was late and wasn’t in his gear but Falk wants to wrestle him anway. Idol takes care of Falk as Landell does commentary. Ken Prince vs. The Raider (2/15/86) WTF is this guy as he was a pretty jacked up dude. Lance said that he reminds him of Spike Huber and I thought that was who it was. “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell vs. Lionel Green (2/15/86) Squash. Landell won’t let go of the figure-four until Idol comes in the ring with it ending up with Landell & Dundee pounding on Idol until the faces make the save. Rick Casey vs. Pat Rose (2/15/86) Pretty good little match here. Frank Morrell & Billy Travis vs. “Superstar” Bill Dundee & Dirty Dutch Mantell (2/15/86) Travis gets the shit beat out of him and juices before getting the hot tag to Morrell who comes in cleaning house until Dundee throws powder in his face for the DQ. Midnight Rider then shows up with the cattle prod and clears the ring. No idea who was under the hood. Landell comes out showing a photo of him holding the NWA World Heavyweight Title belt after he “beat” him thus making him the uncrowned champion then refuses to wrestle Jim Jameson. Great stuff. (2/22/86) Jerry Jarrett sends in a promo announcing that he would retire and that his son Jeff will be making his debut in the ring soon. This is a great promo and a definite extra. (2/22/86) Another one of the Mod Squad promos airs. (2/22/86) The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. Jerry Garmon & Benny Trailer (2/22/86) Squash. We get more Thunderdome hype this time from the heels then they show the old LeDuc video. Next we get highlights of Casey/Dutch from MSC on 2/17/86 with Landell costing Dutch the match. Dundee tries to keep the peace after the match and then they turn on him in the studio. This is a slam dunk extra. “Nature Boy”Buddy Landell vs. Billy Travis (2/22/86) Landell takes Dutch’s place and of course Dutch comes back out and brawls with Landell. Extra material.
