First off... prior to the match.. Rose and Song bust out a killer promo... with Rose talking about "FAMILY FEUD" re. Borne.

Time for JUDO CHOPS!!! from the "Sneaky Japanese"....

"The man is a master of .... KARATEEEE, JUDO... Kung Fu.. and ... all of the others! Many of which I can't pronounce" - says the commentator.

Hack Sawyer sucked and was a embarassment to that great name... but he took a nice russian leg sweep here from Song.

Although I should call it a JUDO Sweep, since everything he did was a "JUDO PUNCH" .. or JUDO KICK... etc..

Ok... nothing special till the end as the bad guys kept HACK in the whole match and BORNE off the top with a sunset to get the win in the first fall, place went nuts.

Song and Borne kinda tore shit up in the 2nd fall, leading me to think Sawyer really sucks, since I wasn't impressed with Song at all in the first fall. Buddy's flying elbow is just awesome.

2nd fall concludes with the usual babyface hottag with Borne going nuts and bouncing Rose around. Finish was cool with Borne picking Rose up in an airplane spin and Song headbutting Borne while he had him up and couldn't protect himself.

Third falls has young Hack winning me back by bumping and selling real well.... match ends abruptly when Song just DESTROYS Hack and gives him a judo chop off the top..... Sawyer sold it like Steamboat sold his "larynx" during the Macho Man bell angle... It was real believable, in other words.....

Good match. I'd put this on the tail end of my list I'm guessing.

Buddy Rose & Kim Sung vs. Matt Borne & Brett Sawyer - 1981/09/12

Kim Sung plays comedy foreigner heel more than evil foreigner heel which kind of kills it for me. Rose bodyslams Sawyer and he went flying. Looked pretty cool. Weird match as everything in the 1st fall just looks awkward. Buddy’s backdrop on Sawyer, Kim’s knife edge chop. First fall was weird as the heels were not really a cohesive team but Sawyer was playing FIP. Cool ending with Borne pinning Rose with a sunset flip form the top while Rose has Sawyer in a front face lock.

2nd fall was better than the 1st with the heels working better as a tandem and Sawyer again getting his ass kicked. Borne finally makes the tag after a long heat segment and we have another cool finish to a fall. 1st fall had this out of nomination territory. 2nd fall puts it back in contention.

3rd fall, Sung, cleans up pinning Sawyer shortly after Borne made the tag. Eh. I have seen so many badass Portland tags. I don’t even know if I would put this on the Rose comp because it was mainly the Sung show.

Holy shit, Song looks like this guy Old School Alex from New Jersey that I used to hang out with when I was a full blown hardcore scenester. I really love him in the early going, as I dug his whiffed chop, his huge bump on the missed leg drop, his selling of the atomic drop, the way he threw kicks and his awesome Russian Legsweep. Then Buddy comes in and fucking vault presses Sawyer before bowing in the corner and posing. Wow that ruled. God I don't give a fuck what anyone says, Sawyer is taking these shots, rag dolling, and Song's offense looks really nasty. I loved the shit with Sawyer in desperation on the floor and Rose stubbornly holding onto a front face lock causing him to lose to a top rope sunset flip for the first fall, bitching at the ref for several minutes afterward. I mean I liked this fall WAYYY more than Will.

Borne spitting at Rose after he quickly tags out to start the second fall was great. Babyfaces end up opening up on Song's arm and I really enjoy Song's reacting to the double teaming. Sawyer ends up FIP again and the heels bring some nasty looking offense. Really dug Song's deep butterfly suplex. The "missed tag" spot taking place right in front of the ref was kind of odd, but Sawyer's selling was really great and I fucking love Song stalking around the ring in the most stereotypical fashion possible immediately after cutting him back down. Sawyer powers out and Borne comes in super fired up. Borne looks to have the airplane spin, but Song sneaks in with a cheapshot headbutt for the second fall. Awesome again.

Borne tries to bash Song's head into the turnbuckles to start the third fall and Song straight up looks at him like he's dumber than dog shit and fucking crushes him with a headbutt. Fuck that might be my favorite spot ever. Borne takes some great shit after this. I mean he takes an awesome back body drop bump, a great delayed vertical from Buddy, a nice belly to back from song, before escaping a spot off the ropes and hitting a nice dropkick. He tags in Sawyer who starts to make a run but gets cut down by Song. Song ends up winning with a flying judo drop, clean. Kind of an uneventful finish almost because of how clean this was.

Anyway, I thought this match was awesome.

Song struck a fine balance between playing to comical sterotypes and unleashing nasty offense. It was rare for Buddy to be overshadowed by a partner, but he kind of was in this case. My favorite moment might have come on commentary, when Song was described as a master of "karate, judo, kung fu and all of the others." I busted out laughing. Anyway, Dylan did a good job of recounting the action so no need to repeat all of that. I'll just say they kept a hell of a pace, and the crowd was great. The ending was a little flat, but this is still a yes for me.
