Posted May 19, 200817 yr comment_5431380 Hi, I'm not going to be getting the Memphis discs. Actually, I think I'm getting out of this altogether. Could I get a refund of the $40 I paid for them? Thanks Um... let me think about that. The whole purpose of donating was so I can spend the money to grab footage for the project so the money is spent. If I refunded the money, it would be money out of my own pocket and not from the fund since that is spent and I have not recieved a donation for the project in weeks. I am not saying no yet but let me talk to Phil first. Hi, I understand your point, but calling them donations as opposed to purchases became semantics when you put a set value on how much it cost to get the discs. The purpose of sending a minimum amount AND promising a set (which is still owed to you) is to make sure the donations are meaningful to get footage we normally could not afford. I have people who have donated $45, 50, 75 etc. $40 is the minimum base. In the process of collecting footage,I have spent about $500 on footage alone. That does not involve the money I spent in duplicating discs and distributing to the nominating crew which has probably been about another $200 worth for a conservative estimate. The only reason this project exists is through donations. I could not afford all of the footage on my own for a product of this magnitude nor would I pursue it. It is a much different story than my comps where I know what footage I need before hand and can trade/ buy just what I need an reap the profits after the fact. For these 80s projects, I have to collect footage from each year and spend money I wouldn't normally pay in order for every match to get its just due.
May 19, 200817 yr comment_5431381 I didn't read this before I sent you a PM, if he is being a dick about it (which he clearly is) Fuck him
May 19, 200817 yr Author comment_5431382 It was only $40 so I already sent him the message that I will refund it once I get someone to replace the money he sent. That will come through once I get more donations which will trickle in once we release the final match list. In the meantime, I am posting a message at DVDVR about no refunds. Phil, once I post the message, if you and/or Dean could reinforce the point as administrators it should give the message some weight.
