Posted June 5, 200817 yr comment_5432014 National TV Title: Jake “The Snake” Roberts © vs. Mike Jackson (12/31/83) Jackson puts up a good fight. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Paul Garner & David Jones (12/31/83) Squash. Freddie Miller announces during the match that Tommy Rich must leave Georgia. DiBiase comes out and gloats about the Rich decision. Sawyer’s cut a promo and both men look like they took a lot of drugs. Ted DiBiase vs. Mike Starbuck (12/31/83) Squash. Tommy Rogers vs. Les Thornton (12/31/83) Les is supposed to wrestle Pat Rose but he wants Rogers since Ole Anderson pushes his name all the time and Rogers accepts his challenge. Now this was a fun wrestling match as both men were competing with each other to see who could counter the other one the best. Both men were slick in their movements and brought different things to the table as Rogers had the speed but Thornton had the power although both were equal in their intensity. Tempers would flare and it would lead to a slugfest but it had one of the best finishes I’ve seen in a while as Thornton hit a deep butterfly suplex but Rogers held on to Thornton’s head and would roll him in a cradle for the win. Solid nomination. “Bullet” Bob & Brad Armstrong vs. Roger Bond & “Golden Boy” Chick Donovan (1/7/84) Squash when Bond is in the ring. Ted DiBiase vs. Johnny Rich (1/7/84) Johnny is trying to get revenge for his cousin Tommy and jumps DiBiase at the bell. Rich really takes it to DiBiase here but would be overpowered soon enough by the National champ who would pick up the win. Decent match. “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant vs. Paul Garner (1/7/84) Squash. Garvin comes out and tells Precious Paul that he has $4,350 to give them for a TV title match and Ellering laughs that off. Ellering said that he wants $35,000 or no match and he has two weeks to raise the money. Ellering suggested to Garvin to sell his house which was hilarious. Brett Sawyer vs. Pat Rose (1/7/84) Good little match with Sawyer bleeding from a recent cut that was getting in his eyes. National TV Title: Jake “The Snake” Roberts © vs. Mike Jackson (1/7/84) Jackson gets Jake again and puts up another good fight. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. “Hands of Stone” Ronnie Garvin & Mike Starbuck (1/7/84) Garvin replaces Starbuck’s original partner as he wants to piss off Ellering and he gets a boatload of offense on the Roadies but Starbuck gets his ass kicked everytime he is in the ring thus causing his team to lose. Wahoo McDaniel is back on TBS after a very long absence and talks about coming after the Road Warriors & DiBiase. Ric Flair then shows up and shakes Wahoo’s hand before calling out any challenger that wants a shot. Jos LeDuc sends in a taped promo about his upcoming match against Buzz Sawyer at the Omni on 1/15/84. “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Roger Bond (1/7/84) Squash. Then we get the great video for the first LLT match between Lawler & Dundee as hype for Lawler coming to Georgia. National TV Title: Jake “The Snake” Roberts © vs. Mike Starbuck (1/7/84) Squash. Chief Wahoo McDaniel vs. “Golden Boy” Chick Donovan (1/7/84) Wahoo wins fairly easily. Solie & Ole announce that DiBiase had shattered Bob Armstrong’s face which was an angle for him to get his nosejob. (1/14/84) The Spoiler vs. Mark Hill (1/14/84) Spoiler makes his return to TBS after a 6 plus year absence. Ted DiBiase vs. Mike Jackson (1/14/84) Good little match that would see Johnny Rich jump DiBiase for the DQ. DiBiase would beat Rich’s ass though. “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Mike Starbuck (1/14/84) Squash.
