Yeah, I see them as combined shows hosted by the CWA that are AWA in commentary & branding only. They were in the CWA territory, used Michael St. John as ring announcer, and were booked by Jerry Jarrett. Superclash in Chicago would be AWA because they were clearly thehost promotion in one of their main towns.

My thought is to put anything that is part of the AWA continuum even slightly as an AWA match (which I think means I am leaning towards moving the Kerry v. Lawler match to AWA) but the pair of matches I nominated were Memphis feuds in front of a Memphis crowd that just happened to be filmed for AWA TV, I look at it like the equivalent of a Chono v. Muta NJ match on one of the WCW New Japan PPV's

... and is just as much a part of AWA history as Memphis history. With the dying territories struggling to survive, we get these wacky breaks in continuity that end up part of both territories history. It is why I argued that Crockett owned UWF should be in the Mid South voting and why I thought UWF centric matches on NWA house shows belong in the NWA section REGARDLESS OF THE WRESTLERS INVOLVED. It is why I thought it was dumb to omit DK-Tiger Mask from the WWF set because it featured New Japan wrestlers that happened to be in a WWF ring. It is why we have Wahoo-Flair part of the Mid South set and it fits just fine there. It helps flesh out the history of the unique Boesch-Watts partnership. Putting a Memphis-centric match under the AWA set is not going to kill it. In fact, it may give some context to what the promotion was attempting at the time to stay alive. Same thing goes for Texas and Memphis. All three sets will have matches from this time period with similar workers and there is nothing wrong with that.

I wasn't involved with the selecting in the WWF set much (outside of the everyone on the board was involved way of pimping favorites to be on, and dogging things disliked to lobby to keep off). But I think TM v DK was kept off cause not that good, not just cause its a New Japan match.

This is a very different situation though, these were CWA matches in a CWA arena with CWA refs promoted by a CWA promoter. I imagine the advertising for the show wasn't based around the AWA guys, I am sure this was promoted like any other CWA show, maybe a Supercard because of guys like Slaughter and Wahoo. It really felt while watching this that the only thing that made this AWA was the announcers. They showed Memphis and Georgia matches on Mid-South TV, didn't make them Mid-South matches

According to the "Why was this left off?" thread, the explanations that were given was that it was left off because it was inferior to their NJ series, not because it would have been inferior on a WWF set. You're right, not the same thing as this but still something I disagree with.

What we need to find is local TV from either Memphis or Nashville from this time period to see if they advertised it on the local show.

Rock N Roll RPMs v Midnight Rockers for AWA title was advertised as a Memphis match with car getting fucked with during TV tapings etc.
