The Manchurians (Tapu & Tio) vs. “Golden Boy” Chick Donovan & Ken Wayne (5/10/80)

 

Very competitive match but Manchurians would get the win. Manchurians were a fine team and had the Great Mephisto in their corner whom after the match whines about Mark Lewin being banned. Mephisto then challenges any team to face his team so Troy T. Tyler (Dream Machine) shows up with a contract calling the Manchurians “gooks.” Mephisto signs a contract but doesn’t know who Troy’s partner is.

 

Next we have a Ginger the wrestling bear having a Coke and a smile along with taking a shit on the floor I think.

 

Southeastern TV Title: The Matador (Jerry Stubbs) © vs. Terry Taylor (5/10/80)

 

Dutch Mantell comes out with Matador smoking a cigar. Matador starts with the advantage but eats a big forearm by Taylor knocking him to the floor. Taylor takes the advantage working on Matador’s arm but Matador would fight back and we would have lots of nearfalls with both men trading the advantage until Taylor went back to the arm. Matador would get the advantage back though trying to get pinfalls on Taylor to finish him off but Taylor keeps fighting back. Matador would nearly get the win on a powerslam but Taylor raised his shoulder up at 2 ¾ then keeps trying to pin Taylor before using a piledriver as time runs out for a draw. The heels want more time and Matador jumps in the ring where he gets cradled up by Taylor with Tommy Weathers counting three but it doesn’t count. This was a fun match and I’m throwing it up on the block.

 

Next up is a personality profile with Randy the Mountaineer (Randy Culley aka Moondog Rex) doing Ken Patera style feats of strength. Then they show clips of Austin Idol vs. Tommy Rich from Knoxville on 5/9/80 with Randy using a bearhug on Idol and a taped promo from Idol promising revenge.

 

“Dirty” Dutch Mantell vs. Len Owen (5/10/80)

 

Squash. Don Diamond would jump Dutch after the match leading to a brawl with Matador & Terry Taylor.

 

Troy T. Tyler comes out showing a burn on his chest from a fireball by the Great Mephisto in Knoxville on 5/23/80. T-John Thibbedeaux then comes out vowing to help Troy help get revenge. (5/24/80)

Bad News Harris (Kamala) vs. Don Graham (5/24/80)

 

Squash. The best part of this was some fan jumped in the ring afterwards and Bad News beat the piss out of him.

 

Promoter Bob Pope comes out and announces that Mark Lewin has been allowed back into the area but can’t use the sleeper.

 

Ivan Rapaputski vs. Tim Horner (5/24/80)

 

Horner is a rookie jobber here.

 

Southeastern TV Title: Dennis Condrey © vs. Terry Taylor (5/24/80)

 

Condrey is defending the Matador’s title because he is injured. Good back and forth match with Condrey stooging around and Taylor using his young fiery babyface offense. Condrey would punish Taylor for a while as he ties him up in the ropes and starts pounding him until Tommy Weathers broke it up. Taylor would get an inside cradle for a nearfall as he tried a comeback and as this happens Dutch Mantell comes out. Taylor would throw Condrey into Dutch and gets the pin to win the title. The babyface locker room comes out to celebrate in the ring. Fun match but not a nomination.

 

Handicap Match: T-John Thibbedeaux vs. Rick Connors & Ken Hall (5/24/80)

 

Thibbedeaux is one of the biggest dudes I’ve seen wrestling at 601 lbs.

 

Troy T. Tyler then cuts a hilarious racist promo on Bad News Harris who cuts a great promo himself. This is definite extra material. (5/24/80)

 

Dutch & Condrey come out talking about their frustrations regarding Terry Taylor making a name for himself and Dutch has an open contract for Taylor to sign. Taylor comes out saying that he is already booked but they basically call him a chicken forcing him to sign it. Dutch then reveals that Taylor signed a deal to face Bad News Harris not him. Don Diamond comes out and tears up the contract. (6/7/80)

Horner replaces Terry Taylor who has to wrestle Bad News Harris later on. Manchurians really work over Diamond here who after a long punishment would get the hot tag to Horner. Horner comes in firing away but gets demolished by the Manchurians. This was a big squash.

I haven't seen this show in ages. But yeah the racist promo by Troy T tyler needs to go on as an extra: "There are only three things I can't do to you".

 

I think there might also be a set up for Dutch Mantell v a bear and Killer Kox v Hansen in bumpers which also were hillarious. But that may be a different episode.

Different one and that was earlier stuff which I don't have.
