Posted June 26, 200817 yr comment_5432456 Riki Choshu vs. Akira Maeda (11/3/83) - Maeda starts off hitting wrestling moves in quick succession so Choshu chooses to slow it down. After being controlled on the ground, Maeda makes a comeback after hitting a clothesline and flying spin kick to set up some big moves. Choshu repsonds in kind with a back suplex and Sharpshooter. Maeda won't give up so Choshu knocks him loopy with a SWEET lariat. It looked better than it was thanks to Maeda's bump. Choshu locks in the Sharpshooter and Maeda taps cleanly. This was a nice 12 minute match that I wouldn't mind see going longer but I enjoyed it throughout with no complaints. Nomination. (NJC 153)
September 3, 200817 yr comment_5434375 Maeda attacked to start, forcing Choshu to slow the pace and grind him down on the mat. Maeda did a nice job of selling his desperation to get out of Choshu's holds. And he did an even better job selling the devastation of his lariat. It's evident from these matches why Maeda became a huge star. He knew how to connect with crowds. I'll second the nomination on this one.
September 1, 200916 yr comment_5443665 I kind of wanted this to be better, but 1983 wasn't the time for these two to have an epic. I thought they noodled around a bit on the mat, but the finish was nuclear enough that I have no problem with putting this on the set, too bad these guys never hooked up in a big mid 80's singles.
