Posted June 26, 200817 yr comment_5432459 Riki Choshu & Higo Hamaguchi vs. Seiji Sakaguchi & Kengo Kimura (MSG Tag League '83) (11/25/83) - Hanaguchi and Sakaguchi pick up where they left off in the singles match and go through some of the same sequences. Choshu and Hamaguchi make a pretty good team. One of the things I love about New Japan is that the superplex is a counter move and there is no convoluted setup to pull it off. The spike piledriver sequence was pretty sweet. Choshu gives Kimura the spike but is saved by Sakaguchi. Instead of staying in the ring, Kimura rolls out, goes to to his side of the ring and immediately tags out, selling the damage from the piledriver. When Kimura tags back in, Choshu and Hamaguchi go after the neck and back area with Sakaguchi having to save him. Eventually, the positions are reversed and Kimura tries to take Hamaguchi out with Choshu saving. The ending is pretty great too. It looks like Kimura has the match won after Choshu lariats Higo accidentally and Kimura follows with a jumping face kick. He whips Higo to the ropes but gets upset by a sunset flip in. (NJC 154)
September 6, 200817 yr comment_5434403 I was on the fence with this one as I'm not a fan of either Sakaguchi or Kimura. But the nifty ending pulled it out for me.
August 28, 200916 yr comment_5443414 I liked this fine, as Hamaguchi is a guy I always enjoy watching, but I am thinking this is a 2008 pick rather then a 2009 pick. We have too much stuff on this set at this point for a solid but unspectacular tag like this to make the cut
