Seiji Sakaguchi, Tatsumi Fujinami & Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs. Riki Choshu, Yoshiaki Yatsu & Higo Hamaguchi (3/22/84)

- Choshu's Army attacks Inoki before the match and he is dismantled and sent to the back. It looks like Inoki's Allies are leaving as Choshu's Army celebrates but they return to the ring and brawl. Choshu's Army brings the double and triple teams and the crowd is on fire. There wasn't any real structure to the match but Fujiwara and Yatsu play punching bags for their teams. The end run has each team trying to get a pin only for a member to make the save. The whole match is thrown out and Fujiwara gets busted open for his troubles. This was super fun but I don't know how great it was. Still, it goes in the nominations for discussion.

I enjoyed this a bunch, from the pre-match attack on Inoki to the crowd heat to the wild brawl at the end. Choshu was a phenomenal faction leader, talking trash to his opponents and the crowd, directing his crew in triple teams, supplying a jolt of energy whenever his team needed it. It's not hard to see why he was such a pivotal figure over the whole decade. Anyway, this is a definite nomination for me.
