Kerry Von Erich + Chris Adams vs Jimmy Garvin + Missing Link It's amazing how over Stella Mae French is over. The work was solid, just not enough time for the match to develope. 2. Ric Flair vs Chris Adams Flair might be the best ever at playing World champ. The Flair Sunshine pre match stuff was gold. The crowd is super hot for this. I kinda dug the early portions where Adams had a counter for all of Flair's stuff. He was basically out wrestling him. It took a cheapshot from Flair to turn the tide. I think this was the first time I've seen Flair do a side back breaker. The wrestlers did a nice job of meshing Flair's stuff with Adams stuff. The super kick was a great near fall even though it was botched a little. Flair getting a clean pin was a change of pace. I thought the wrestlers cut a fast pace. This was great match and a slam dunk nomination. int: Kerry Von Erich This was great and a possible extra. - Fritz's Scrapebook: WCCW in Japan - Al Perez profile This was great, and so sexist that also had some beefcake. This is another possible extra. If Perez had some charisma this would have been a slam dunk extra. 3. Brian Adias vs Al Madril - lumberjack match I liked this. It falls short for a nomination for me because the Lumberjack gimmick was barely used. I've never been a fan of both wrestlers, but I kinda liked this match. If someone else nominated this I wouldn't oppose it. - Kerry's Korner: Kerry working out - Fritz's Scrapebook: research on the Adias' oriental spike He subtly buries Gordy during this. int: Bruiser Brody 4. Ted Arcidi vs Tony Atlas This wasn't good. 5. Kevin Von Erich vs Brian Adias - Mesquite Rodeo Arena, 7-5-87 More of an angle than a match, but it was hate filled. 6. Bruiser Brody vs Abdullah the Butcher - Mesquite Rodeo Arena, 7-5-87 This was just a brawl. To me it just didn't seem all that inspiring. Both wrestlers were bleeding. It went outside and the wrestlers brawled on floor with the fans all around. After watching Memphis and Mid-South this just seemed kinda weak to me. This was the match that set up the cage match between the 2. Plus the crowd seemed apathetic to it. - highlights from Sam Houston Coliseum of Bruiser Brody attacking One Man Gang - Texas All Star 30 secs of action, but the angle afterwards was boss and a possible extra. int: Bruiser Brody w/ Gary Hart - Texas All Star This does an incredible job of making Brody come across as super important. This is a surefire extra. 7. Kamala + Zambuie Express vs Tom Jones + Bobby Duncum - Texas All Star This was fun. int: Skandar Akbar 8. Bruiser Brody vs Perry Jackson This was just a mugging. - Fritz's Scrapebook: home videos This should be an extra on just the creep factor alone. - Pro Wrestling This Week match Bruiser Brody vs Abdullah the Butcher - Central States - Pro Wrestling This Week match Kevin Von Erich vs Brian Adias - cage match; Mesquite Rodeo Arena, 8-2-87 - Pro Wrestling This Week match Kevin Von Erich vs Brian Adais - Ft Worth - Ted Arcidi profile This was horrid
December 11, 200817 yr comment_5436353 “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin & The Missing Link vs. “Gentleman” Chris Adams & “Modern Day Warrior (6/22/84) A very loud We Want Stella chant goes up before the match and it just boggles my mind that this old bitch got over so huge. I loved Kerry’s fake applause as Garvin posed his muscles in front of him. Garvin takes some punishment from Kerry early and sells really well before Adams gets in who would soon fall prey to the heels with both Garvin & Link working him over well. Adams would sneak in a Superkick before making the hot tag to Kerry who would come in blazing throwing some solid punches. Adams would get back in to get revenge on Garvin by Superkicking the hell out of him sending him to the floor. Adams would suplex Garvin back in but Precious tripped him up and held his foot for the pin. The heels would attack Adams after the match until Stella Mae made the save by attacking Precious and slapping Garvin. Horrible that this old bag was making saves for these wrestlers. Fun little sprint though. NWA World Heavyweight Title: “Nature Boy” Ric Flair © vs. “Gentleman” Chris Adams (2/3/84) Flair is awesome here before the action starts with his actions towards Sunshine and shaking Adams’ hand out of sportsmanship. There is some fantastic wrestling going on here with both men just trading everything between each other showing great mental prowess as one would counter the other trying to frustrate each other. Flair would chunk Adams to the floor to begin his offensive barrage but Adams would fight his way back fairly quickly getting nearfalls before going to a sleeper that Flair would counter into a side backbreaker. Adams would again fight back and we would have some great back-and-forth action with a great spot as Flair goes for the figure-four but Adams rises up and hits an enzuigiri with Flair doing the Flair flop. Adams would finally hit the Superkick for a nearfall as Flair would put his foot on the ropes and Adams would try again with a reverse splash off the middle rope but Flair tucked under and rolled to get the win. Tremendous match and a slam dunk nomination. Next we get a video of Kerry Von Erich talking about doing public appearances. Kerry judging the Best Legs in Texas contest at some dive bar was fucking great. Definite extra. Then we get Fritz talking about World Class in Japan. Then we get a profile of Al Perez that was pretty awesome because Perez talks about women being in their place. Definite extra. Lumberjack: Brian Adias vs. Al Madril (6/12/87) Adias juices here as both men just pepper each other with punches between throwing the other one out to the floor so the lumberjacks can throw them back in. This was nothing but a slugfest to start but Adias would take over and work some on the mat before Madril would come back to work on Adias’ left leg. The fans were really behind Madril here before it goes back to a slugfest. Adias would hit the Oriental Tool with Bronko Lubich stopping the match and they played this up as Madril could die because of the move. Madril sells it like he is on the verge of passing out as the lumberjacks and doctor comes in to check on him. This was pretty fun and I love the selling of the Oriental Tool and this goes on the block. Kerry’s Korner features him working out trying to prepare his return to the ring. Fritz then talks about Adias’ patented Oriental Tool and said that he is the only one that has perfected it. Nice dig at Gordy & Khan there. Madril then talks about it saying that he couldn’t breathe after Adias used the Tool then talks about why he turned heel and back to babyface. This was good stuff and a definite extra. Fritz then talks about how strong Arcidi is and then we get clips of him setting a bench press record. Ted Arcidi vs. Tony Atlas (6/12/87) Horrible match. World Class World Heavyweight Title: Kevin Von Erich vs. Brian Adias (7/5/87) This was a big venue in Mesquite, Texas that had a shitload of empty seats. Adias wanted to make amends before the match but it was a setup for Al Perez to attack Kevin that wouldn’t work as Kevin locked on the iron claw on Adias. Perez would attack Kevin with a chair though until the Simpson brothers made the save. Extra material. Abdullah the Butcher vs. Bruiser Brody (7/5/87) Brody comes out with a metal gas can and just pounds on Abby forcing him to juice and the brawl is on. This was a fucking wild all over the building brawl that these two do best and both men were bleeding heavily. I liked this lot more than shoe did and I think this goes on the block. Then we get some Texas All-Star stuff with Bruiser Brody turning heel attacking Big Bubba and a babyface One Man Gang before aligning with Gary Hart of all people with a great promo and this is a slam dunk extra. Just fun stuff. Kamala & Mr. Kareem Muhammad vs. Bobby Duncum & Tom Jones (December 1985) Total squash. Bruiser Brody vs. Perry Jackson (7/30/87) Squash. Then we get Fritz showing home videos of the boys from their childhood. Extra material. Then we get some PWTW clips. Then we get a Ted Arcidi profile that is so fucking horrible we have to put it on as an extra.
June 3, 201015 yr comment_5451553 int: Kerry Von Erich Those were some pretty good legs right there. Kerry and Kevin also teach the youngsters to say no to drugs, and I laugh and laugh and laugh and throw up on my shoes. All in all, this was delightful, and a definite extra. - Fritz's Scrapebook: WCCW in Japan Kevin uses his time in the far east to research the new technique Adias has been using. - Al Perez profile Great stuff. It's an extra. Lumberjack: Brian Adias vs. Al Madril (6/12/87) This was certainly better than a match between Adias and face Madril has any right to be. Some of the brawling looked a bit weak, but most of it was really good, and the KO finish with Madril's selling and Adias' celebration was fantastic. Adias actually had a bit of personality to him and made a great cocky bastard when he wanted to. Too bad he so rarely did. I'll back this as a low-end nomination. World Class World Heavyweight Title: Kevin Von Erich vs. Brian Adias (7/5/87) Extra-worthy angle. Abdullah the Butcher vs. Bruiser Brody (7/5/87) I agree with Kris. A wild brawl from two guys who could deliver that sort of thing. Not quite on the same level as their 8/4/86 match, but still great in it's own right, and worthy of a low-end nomination. - highlights from Sam Houston Coliseum of Bruiser Brody attacking One Man Gang - Texas All Star int: Bruiser Brody w/ Gary Hart - Texas All Star Totally awesome angle and a great Gary Hart promo. When Brody finally stood up and grabbed Steve Stacks by the lapels at the end, he came across like such a scary motherfucker. Definite extra for the Territories set. - Fritz's Scrapebook: home videos I bet you those dogs were the only living beings in these videos who died with a modicum of dignity. 11-year-old Kerry with a gun? For real? This family is just too much. Sleaze extra. - Ted Arcidi profile This was delightful. Probably the best (read: only non-terrible) thing Arcidi ever did in his wrestling career. It's an extra.
