2. Ric Flair vs Chris Adams

Flair might be the best ever at playing World champ. The Flair Sunshine pre match stuff was gold. The crowd is super hot for this. I kinda dug the early portions where Adams had a counter for all of Flair's stuff. He was basically out wrestling him. It took a cheapshot from Flair to turn the tide. I think this was the first time I've seen Flair do a side back breaker. The wrestlers did a nice job of meshing Flair's stuff with Adams stuff. The super kick was a great near fall even though it was botched a little. Flair getting a clean pin was a change of pace. I thought the wrestlers cut a fast pace. This was great match and a slam dunk nomination.

Hot damn, this was great. It's like they took all the best stuff about your average Flair touring NWA Title defense and condensed it into 15 minutes of great action, plus they give him an awesome side backbreaker that I've never seen him do before, had him kick at Sunshine like a total dick, and gave him a clean win, just to spice things up. Plus, you have Chris Adams, who makes an awesome foil for Flair by actually trying to be a gentleman while Flair just occasionally pays lip service to being one. His hesitation over shaking Flair's hand after he hit on Sunshine at the start of the match was great, and he had a couple of similar bits throughout the match before he got tired of Flair's bullshit before he started pasting him with forearms and the Superkick. And Sunshine is one of the best valets ever. Sort of the anti-Miss Elizabeth, in that Liz was great largely because of her ability to play weak damsel in distress who had the inner strength to stay true to her values, Sunshine was great because of her ability to play feisty gal who didn't know her own (lack of) strength, driven by the way she had passively allowed her values to be corrupted in the past by Jim Garvin. And well, Garvin was basically Flair without the credibility, so there's that dimension to this match, too. All told, this is probably one of the three best matches I've seen on these sets so far. Slam dunk nomination.

NWA World Heavyweight Title: “Nature Boy” Ric Flair © vs. “Gentleman” Chris Adams (2/3/84)

Flair is awesome here before the action starts with his actions towards Sunshine and shaking Adams’ hand out of sportsmanship. There is some fantastic wrestling going on here with both men just trading everything between each other showing great mental prowess as one would counter the other trying to frustrate each other. Flair would chunk Adams to the floor to begin his offensive barrage but Adams would fight his way back fairly quickly getting nearfalls before going to a sleeper that Flair would counter into a side backbreaker. Adams would again fight back and we would have some great back-and-forth action with a great spot as Flair goes for the figure-four but Adams rises up and hits an enzuigiri with Flair doing the Flair flop. Adams would finally hit the Superkick for a nearfall as Flair would put his foot on the ropes and Adams would try again with a reverse splash off the middle rope but Flair tucked under and rolled to get the win. Tremendous match and a slam dunk nomination.
