Finish was totally awesome with Inoki drilling Fujiwara with a forearm while he was throwing his headbutt. Post match was nuts with UWF dudes brawling with New Japan wrestlers and the crowd pelting the ring with garbage. Awesome shit, slamdunk nomination. NJ v. UWF 1 disc 2
October 25, 200817 yr comment_5435370 DATE HERE SHOULD READ 2/6/86, not 6/2/86 Super match. Inoki could be excellent at intense, mat-based showdowns if paired with the right guy. They executed the ending superbly. A possible low blow by Inoki turned the tide in his favor, but the wounded Fujiwara was still dangerous and lured Inoki in for a sudden, violent series of head butts. Inoki managed to catch him with a punch just as he delivered a third butt, however, and he used the opening to choke Fujiwara out. The postmatch brawl sent it out on the right note. Another easy nomination. Appears on NJ TV 2/6/86 and NJ Classics 227
August 13, 200916 yr comment_5442745 The first slap by Fujiwara set this one up perfectly after he gives his smug grin only to get leveled by Inoki in the corner with some killer punches. Fujiwara keeping Inoki grounded seemed like a sound strategy considering he got pummeled in the corner. Loved thesequence where Inoki hits the double underhook, attempts another only for fujiwara to block it, trip him and go bacck to the ground since he kept getting his ass beat standing up. Man, fujiwara looked like he was going to pull inoki's arm out of his socket and then for Inoki to use headbutts to block the armbar attempt. Beautiful. The first viewing, I had no love for the ending but since UWF matches end in submissions, it made sense for Inoki to end it with a chinlock after knocking fujiwara the fuck out. This is Top Ten stuff.
