Posted August 21, 200817 yr comment_5434147 - highlights Freebirds vs Kevin, Kerry, + Lance Von Erich - Ft Worth This is JIP 6 minutes in. Gordy looked amazing here. The crowd was super hot. What was shown looked amazing. Just not enough material for a nomination. - highlights Terry Gordy vs Bruiser Brody - Ft Worth This was a cool angle, and should make it as an extra. 1. Terry Gordy vs Bruiser Brody This is just a fun filled brawl that doesn't last long. 2. Michael Hayes + Buddy Roberts vs Lance Von Erich + Brickhouse Brown I loved the pre match preening of Brown vs. Hayes. Some real fun stooging from the Freebirds early in the bout. I thought all 4 wrestlers put together a good match that the fans were hot for. I dug the finish to it as well. I'm going to throw this on the nomination block. - highlights Michael Hayes + Buddy Roberts beating on Mike Von Erich; Chris Von Erich comes in with chair. This is a sure fire extra. VG+ 3. Kerry Von Erich vs Kamala - Reunion Arena Kamala's selling of fear from the claw is great. Another solid match between the 2, but not a nominaion. 4. Michael Hayes vs John Mantell A competive squash. VG+/EX 5. Rick Rude vs Chris Adams This started out hot and then settled down. The wrestlers paced the match like they were going 20+. This doesn't feel like a nomination. When Adams was on offense this was fun. Rude took some nice bumps and worked Adams neck and his bad eye. Rude's headlocks just got a tad boring . That standing drop kick Rude performed was great. Of course the super kicks from Adams looked killer.Overall, a good match that falls a tad short for me; but I could understand someone else giving it a nomination. 6. Al Madril vs Tommy Wright - Texas All Star This was solid stuff. 7. Big Bubba vs Tug Taylor - Texas All Star Just not a good match with both wrestlers looking green and phony. I'm glad it was short. int: Jonathon Boyd - Texas All Star Just one of the great promo men that people never talk about. int: Chris Adams - Texas All Star 8. Bruiser Brody vs Abdullah the Butcher - Reunion Arena These are highlights. 9. Bruiser Brody + Steve Simpson vs Grappler #2 + Killer Brooks I wasn't digging this at all. - Bruiser Brody video 10. Abdullah the Butcher vs Skip Young Just a total mugging. - highlights Rick Rude vs Chris Adams - Reunion Arena I hope we have this in full. It looked great. 11. Bruiser Brody, Lance Von erich, + Steve Simpson vs Matt Borne, Buzz Sawyer, + Kabuki There was some good wresling here. I thought that Sawyer and Borne were great at making this match. Their are so many great 6 mans from this area that I'm going to not give this a nomination. Though I did like it.
November 28, 200817 yr comment_5436040 This starts with clips of the Freebirds vs. Von Erichs from Fort Worth on 3/17/86. Bruiser Brody vs. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy (3/21/86) This is just awesome stuff with both men just mauling each other inside and outside the ring with Brody swinging a chair and Gordy taking off Brody’s boot and using it as a weapon. Rick Hazzard will have enough about 90 seconds in and calls a DQ against Gordy but it doesn’t matter as they brawl through the building before Gordy is sent outside. The crowd is apeshit for Brody. Slam dunk extra. Brickhouse Brown & Lance Von Erich vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael “PS” Hayes & Buddy Roberts) (3/21/86) Hayes is wearing yellow tights which is the only time I’ve seen him wear that color and Hayes schtick before the match was classic having a pseudo danceoff with Brickhouse. Brick looked great here and it was a shame that he didn’t last longer because he left here to go to WWF and that didn’t work out well. Birds were great here at stooging especially Hayes who was in his element in this type of match. Lance was fine here as well but Brick really carried this match on the face end especially as FIP where he takes a big beating. Lance would finally get the hot tag and had Hayes rolled up in an O’Connor Roll for the win but Roberts threw him over the top rope only for Lance to skin the cat and schoolboy Roberts for the win. This was loads of fun and a great finish to boot. Easy nomination. Then we get clips of the Birds going after Mike & Chris Von Erich in Fort Worth as they are being interviewed by Marc Lowrance. Roberts gets off a lot of cripple lines on Mike then shoves down Chris forcing Mike to try to help him. Mike gets attacked before Chris grabs a chair and hits Roberts but Hayes would go after him as Gordy gets the Oriental Spike on Mike until Kerry makes the save. Definite extra material. Michael Hayes vs. Johnny Mantell (11/4/83) Hayes would get the win fairly easily. “Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. “Ravishing” Rick Rude (6/13/86) Adams really works over Rude early on taking him to the floor and just pounding him but after going back to the ring he would miss a headbutt off the middle rope allowing Rude to make a comeback. Rude went on offense but he looked off for some reason and relied too much on rest holds in between going after Adams’ bad eye. Adams would come back though hitting a great Superkick before nailing him with a piledriver but Rude would get his foot on the bottom rope on the pin attempt. Adams would then just jack Rude’s jaw with another Superkick before climbing up top as Percy shakes him off using his cane and Rude would cover him for the pin. David Manning would show up and reversed the decision so Rude would attack Adams ripping his eyepatch off but Adams would fight him off and hit another Superkick to send Rude to the floor. Adams was solid in this match but Rude was not in a working mood so I’m going no on a nomination. Next we get some Texas All-Star stuff Next we get highlights from the 7/4/86 Reunion Arena show. Bruiser Brody & Steve Simpson vs. Killer Brooks & Grappler II (7/13/86) This match got a lot of time and wasn’t very good. Next we get a Bruiser Brody video that was done by WWC. Abdullah the Butcher vs. Skip Young (6/27/86) Abby just destroys Young until the faces come out to help but they are thwarted until Brody makes the save. Extra material. Then we get highlights of Adams vs. Rude from Reunion on 7/4/86. Maniac Matt Borne, The Great Kabuki & “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Bruiser Brody, Steve Simpson, & Lance Von Erich (6/27/86) The heels were great here even Kabuki who folded up Simpson with a backdrop suplex. Simpson was good in his role here as fiery babyface who gets his ass kicked with Borne & Sawyer being happy at doing the asskicking. Lance then came in and took a pounding as well as the heels were pretty ruthless here but would tag Simpson back in after Buzz missed a running shoulderblock into the ringpost and it wouldn’t be long before Simpson would get his ass kicked again. There was a badly botched neckbreaker spot with Kabuki & Simpson that they had to redo. Lance would get the hot tag and cleaned house on everyone and it would break down into a 6-way brawl and as this happened Lance got an O’Connor Roll on Buzz while Borne came in with Buzz’s chain and clotheslined him for the win. I liked this quite a bit and I’m throwing it on the block.

The Freebirds go after Mike and Chris Von Erich Cringe-worthy performances from the lesser Von Erichs, who are called on to do about three things here and manage to fail at four. For this exact reason, it probably belongs as an extra. Rick Rude vs Chris Adams Adams attacks Rude pretty much in plain sight with a microphone, but Rude gets DQ'd because Pringle tripped Chris? Whatever you say, guys.... Al Madril vs Tommy Wright - Texas All Star Short, but a lot of fun. Probably my favorite Texas All-Star bout so far. Big Bubba vs Tug Taylor - Texas All Star By contrast, this is the worst Texas All-Star bout I've seen. Probably the worst bout I've seen on any of these discs, really. int: Jonathon Boyd - Texas All Star Good stuff. int: Chris Adams - Texas All Star Good little angle and a pair of strong promos from Adams. It could sneak on as an extra. Abdullah the Butcher vs Skip Young I like Abby a lot, and Skip is good, but I wasn't feeling this one for whatever reason. Bruiser Brody, Lance Von erich, + Steve Simpson vs Matt Borne, Buzz Sawyer, + Kabuki Solid bout, but it never quite grabbed me.
