Actually, most of this featured Maeda in peril with other members of Ishin Gundan grabbing Fujinami's legs to keep him from helping. I'm not sure I expected Maeda to be good at the Kobashi-style young lion in danger routine. But he sold willingly, took athletic bumps and certainly had big enough offense to pop the crowd with his comebacks. His downfall? He was too bullheaded to tag out when he rallied, so Choshu and Hamaguchi were always able to maneuver him back to the corner for more big double team moves. Some might find it unsatisfying that Maeda never made the tag, but I liked it. It told me something about his character and also created a drama of frustration for Fujinami in his feud with Choshu. The whole match was exciting and kept the crowd hot, so I'll give it a nomination.
June 29, 200916 yr comment_5441287 Riki Choshu & Animal Hamaguchi vs Akira Maeda & Tatsumi Fujinami, NJ TV 7/14/83 - I think normally I would nominate this match because it had good heat, they always kept the action moving but there wasn't anything really memorable about this match. I don't really dispute anything that CHilds said but Maeda isn't the best guy to sell a beating. When Hoshino is getting his ass kicked, you root for him. When Maeda gets his ass kicked because he is bull headed, you don't give a shit. I think there are tons of tags that will stick out in people's minds more than this match becuase I disagree with Childs' assertion that the actual match was exciting. It wasn't. No vote.
August 31, 200916 yr comment_5443577 Choshu and Hamiguchi will beat your ass, I understand where Childs is coming from when he says the lack of tag shows about Meada's character, but this was still a match without a final act and the first and second act needs to be better. So a No for me.
