From Scherer:

For those wondering why The Rock's bio is back up on WWE.com, as well as the company wishing The Rock a happy birthday on Raw, it is due to the fact that "The People's Champion" and Vince McMahon mended the rift between them at the post-Wrestlemania party. As of right now, The Rock is on good terms with the company again, and will show up on Raw whenever his movie schedule will allow it.

Good news I suppose, although the idea of Rock being a free agent and possibly signing with a competitor would have been a great thing for wrestling in the long run.

This was first reported over a week ago in the Observer. Kudos to Scherer for being on the ball with up-to-date news.

And here I was thinking it was down to Scherer being a fat schlub and bad at his job.

The WWE has a competitor? Since when?

If The Rock signed with TNA, WWE would immediately have a competitor as long as they could get the word out, and it would probably start a mass exodus of talent. Not that I think TNA deserves to be the company that eventually comes along and provides competition to WWE, but Rock showing up in another promotion would completely change the face of wrestling. It may not happen immediately, but as a lot of frustrated WWE guys' contracts expired, we'd be seeing them head that way.

I never knew they were on bad terms. I also never remember Rock's profile being off the website.

Yeah, back in January, they just let his contract expire because they didn't think it was an important enough issue to worry about. How crazy is that! There were also problems coming up with a plan for Wrestlemania, as Rock and Vince couldn't agree on anything, and the basic feeling according to Meltzer was that HHH had used his influence to finally drive Rock out of the company.

Don't get me wrong, I fully agree. But TNA is the closest thing to competition right now and it'd still be a longshot that the Rock would sign with him, given his black market wrestling value, plus he has a number of Hollywood projects going right now. Point being, is even if he's a free agent, I don't know if any other company can go after him at this point.

It must drive HHH bonkers that the guy who annoys him the most has ties to the one person who's arguably more untouchable with Vince than he is (Afa).

Why is Afa so untouchable? Does it have to do with the story about him attempting to influence Vince's steroid trial jury in 1994?

The only confirmed thing I've heard about that is that he got kicked out of the courtroom for mouthing "Not Guilty" at the jurors.

Rock honestly doesn't need WWE. He'll never be a huge movie star, but he's got enough credible roles in recent years to ensure that he'll probably never have to go crawling back to pro wrestling.

Sorta like how Hogan/Hall/Nash made WCW a huge draw?
