Shocked at how much I enjoyed this. All of these guys were basically rookies and they go after each other hardcore. All out workrate tag with all four guys trying to kick each others heads off. Really fun, I am nominating this.

 

NJ V. UWF VOL 1 disc 2

This was a blast. These four guys never made TV in this era, so it makes you wonder how much stellar stuff we'll never see from the NJ undercards of the '80s. Anyway, they churned out a great mix of high-impact moves, shooty stiffness and submission attempts. This also showed how much of a prodigy the 18-year-old Funaki was. He was just as smooth as the UWF guys at the shootstyle stuff, but he also had a connection with the crowd that you don't expect from someone so young. Nomination and a cool change-of-pace from all the usual match-ups.

Really good matwork in this one compared to the Cobra match I just saw. Everytime they applied a hold, they fought, struggled, countered, sold... the type of shit I look for when motherfuckers go to the mat. At one point, Anjog countered a leg lock with a vicious kick to the head. Sweet stuff. Great run by both teams late ron that even got the dead crowd into the match. There was a whiffed kick in there as well but we'll forgive it. Nomination.
