Disc 3

January 13th & 20th 1984:

1. The Cobra vs. Isamu Teranishi - I swear Cobra just went from one move to the next at random. Teranishi was a solid enough base against high flyers, but Cobra couldn't put together any sort of coherent attack. Some nice spots in this one but that's about it.

2. Dynamite Kid vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi - These two haven't had good chemistry in either match I've seen between them. This was fairly slow-paced. It made sense for Kobayashi to try and control the stronger, more explosive Dynamite on the mat. Dynamite sold the holds OK but either lacked the skill or will to produce interesting counter sequences on the ground. When he was in control, he basically clubbed or head butted Kobayashi over and over. The end was good. Dynamite hit a few power moves to set up the flying head butt attempt. Of course, he missed and Kobayashi used the opportunity to send him outside and hit him with a decent looking plancha. They exchanged suplexes on the floor for the double countout. It couldn't redeem the sluggish body of the match, however.

3. Antonio Inoki/Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Riki Choshu/Animal Hamaguchi - This got off to a decent start with Inoki fired up to get his hands on Choshu. But Bad News showed up at ringside to distract Inoki, and that allowed Ishingundan to isolate Fujinami long enough to earn a surprisingly quick pin. More of a set-up for Bad News and Inoki than much of a match on its own terms.

4. Animal Hamaguchi/Riki Choshu vs. Dusty Rhodes/Hart - This was such a short clip that I really have no comment.

5. Black Tiger/The Cobra vs. British Bulldogs - Really awful match. I mean, guys just tagged in whenever and tossed in moves that had no connection to what had come before. They made no attempts to isolate opponents or get across any plans of attack. And they botched a bunch of moves to boot. Dynamite looked

especially lousy, struggling to keep his balance on multiple occasions. The match lasted a bit more than 15 minutes but seemed to go on forever. Maybe the worst thing I've seen since I started reviewing stuff for this set.

6. Antonio Inoki/Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Bad News Allen/Rusher Kimura - Kimura and Bad News jumped Inoki and Fujinami before the bell and delivered a pretty bad beating. Kimura had a cast on his arm and used it to bust up Inoki. Allen used a chair to strangle Fujinami. The faces rallied slowly over the course of the match, but then Abdullah appeared at ringside and distracted Allen. This led to an all-out, multi-pronged brawl.
