Disc 4

January 27th & February 03rd 1984:

1. The Cobra vs. Dynamite Kid - Cobra pulled the upset win here with a roll-up. You would think they could have built to that nicely with Dynamite playing the heavy-hitting destroyer and Cobra playing the opportunistic underdog. But these guys couldn't structure a match to save their lives. Their transitions were especially bad, with Cobra no-selling and forgetting to link his offense from one control segment to the next and Dynamite moving directly from being in trouble to hitting piledrivers.

2. Abdullah the Butcher vs. Bad News Allen - Short clip of the expected brawl.

3. Antonio Inoki/Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Iron Mike Sharpe/Hulk Hogan - Solid tag that showcased Hogan coming off his WWF title win. He looked good, hitting all of his Japanese offense on Fujinami and getting the crowd riled with teased showdowns against Inoki. The end was weird as Hogan and Inoki squared off in the ring while the legal men, Inoki and Sharpe, were counted out. Nothing really nomination-worthy here.

4. Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Riki Choshu - Fujiwara, I believe, attacked Choshu and bloodied him as he was walking to the ring. Fujinami then beat on him a bit before the whole thing devolved into a faction brawl. Could be an extra in a package of stuff on the Choshu-Fujinami feud.

5. Dynamite Kid vs. Davey Boy Smith - They could have worked a fun 10-minute match with Davey as the younger, more athletic guy and Dynamite as the veteran who cut him off by being a surly prick. Davey's early sequence of attempted roll-ups was a nice start. Unfortunately, they went well beyond 10 minutes, and Davey gassed anytime he worked hard for more than two. Neither of these guys were good at working mat holds, so the rest segments really dragged. I liked Dynamite ending it with the opportunistic suplex on the outside for a countout. Again, that would have fit the suggested storyline. But I found this match pretty frustrating in total. No vote from me.

6. Antonio Inoki/Akira Maeda vs. Iron Mike Sharpe/Hulk Hogan - Inoki was made to look really strong here, essentially taking out both Hogan and Sharpe after they controlled Maeda most of the way. This was fine but I feel no burning desire to see it again.
