Posted September 15, 200817 yr comment_5434593 Disc 9 April 06th & 13th 1984: 1. Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs. Animal Hamaguchi - I wish they had let one of these Fujiwara singles matches go for 15 minutes. He showed up with the head bandage again and Hamaguchi had him bleeding like a stuck pig from the get go. Fujiwara rallied with some nice offense, including a piledriver and a double-underhook suplex. Once Hamaguchi regained control, he propped Fujiwara's head against the ringpost and started hitting it with a chair to earn the DQ. The whole thing lasted maybe 6 minutes. Could be another good extra. 2. Nobuhiko Takada vs. Bruce Hart - This did not appear on my disc. 3. Antonio Inoki/Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Kareem/Akeem - Fujinami got to look strong against the shitty giants. Yeah. 4. Riki Choshu/Yoshiaki Yatsu vs. Seiji Sakaguchi/Kengo Kimura - Sakaguchi produced a nice sequence standing up to Choshu. Unfortunately, the match ended in a double countout moments later and was generally an unremarkable entry in the rivalry. 5. Akeem/Kareem vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi/Isamu Teranishi - They wrestled this way too straight instead of doing a bunch of giants vs. Lilliputians spots. 6. Seiji Sakaguchi/Osamu Kido vs. Masked Superstar/Iron Mike Sharpe - Didn't leave much of an impression. 7. Antonio Inoki/Fujinami/Kimura vs. Riki Choshu/Yatsu/Hamaguchi - They played with the trios formula well here. When Choshu and Inoki squared off mid-match, Fujinami took a page from the Ishingun book and nailed Riki with an elbow from the top. That set up a long control segment in which the Seikigun unit busted Choshu open badly. Just when I thought they had the match won, however, Kimura strayed too far toward the Ishingun corner, and momentum swung again. Unfortunately the episode ended moments later with Choshu setting up Kimura for the scorpion. They showed a bit more of the ending during the credits, but it was still inconclusive. I want to nominate this, but I suspect the nonsense with the end will knock it off the set. Still worth discussing.
