Jimmy Garvin vs. David Von Erich (Texas Title in Ft. Worth, TX on 06/17/83)

- I am so used to seeing Garvin rest when applying holds that I was shocked that he was actually working holds with David here. Early on, this was pretty good with both guys keeping the match moving and feeling out the other guy. Great sequence where David yanks Garviin off the ropes so he can drop an elbow on the leg but Garvin kicks him in the face with the other leg as he is dropping the elbow. Garvin’s offense didn’t last long but it was nice to see him focus on attacking David’s head. Every time he does go back on offense, he is going after the head whether it is a sleeper or dropping David throat first on the top rope. After David kicks out, Garvin goes for a 2nd pin attempt and Sunshine is there to hold David’s legs down for Garvin to get the pin. Call me crazy but this was better than any Jimmy Garvin match I have watched in Crockett. I don’t know how far it will go but this is a World Class nomination.

This feels like a pretty solid nomination to me. The finish feels a bit abrupt, but works well enough, and certainly isn't as jarring as some World Class finishes can be. This is also the first match I've seen where David looked as good as his brothers, and Garvin was really on point as well. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

2. Jimmy Garvin vs David Von Erich - Texas title held up for the 4th time; Reunion Arena

This is just a good feud. Again this is another good bout between the 2. The headlock work on the mat was done well. I loved how DVE attempted to bridge out of the hammerlock. I liked how both wrestlers were putting up a fight on the mat. Again both wrestlers facials played a part in my enjoyment of the bout. This was the best bout between the 2 so far that I've seen. This should move forward as a nomination. Garvin's bitching and moaning of the title being held up was tremendous/

Decision Match for the vacant Texas Heavyweight Title: “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin vs. David Von Erich (6/17/83)

This was a damn good match with both men working hard and looking good in everything they did both on offense and defense along with some great selling. The crowd was great as usual adding an extra element to the match as it helped give it a big-match feel which it was. The finish was a little odd because Sunshine missed her spot but she would get it the 2nd time and Garvin would win the title. Bronko Lubich then finds out what happened and decides to hold the title up again with Garvin going nuts. Like I said a very good match and a nomination.
