Choshu and Valentine looked a lot alike for people of completely different nationalities -- same body type, same hair, similar wrestling gear. Weird. They also hit harder than most of their peers and got into a pretty fun slugfest here. If they had to go to a DQ finish on the outside this was the way to do it, with Choshu lariating Valentine out of the ring and then over the rail. I'll give this one a low-end nomination to see what you guys think.

Greg Valentine vs. Riki Choshu

- After a tentative beginning, these two come out wailing away at each other. Gotta love that. Choshu and Valentine could be the same wrestler. Just two pitbulls going at it. I like the match up but this needed a finish. I started to lose interest in the end and didn’t like Valentine shrugging off the lariat that sent him to the outside. I would have nominated this last year, not this year.

This was the match I enjoyed most of the five matches I watched with Phil last night. The dull slap of fist against chest constantly throughout the match was really impressive. The battle of the figure four v. the scorpion deathlock was compelling, and the DQ finish was surprisingly fine for me. I think they deserved it after all they put each other through. And Valentine's post-match rant was great. Even though he was back on his feet fairly quickly, he was selling his back and genuinely looked to be in pain, despite his bravado. I think this match should go on the set.
