Chain match that is short and bloody. Boris seems like he is holding up on his chain whips, which is foolish because it doesn't seem like Wahoo holds up on him. Wahoo really whips that change into Boris' back and shoulders. Wahoo is bleeding within the first minute or so, and Boris follows a couple minutes later. Great spot on the floor when Wahoo pulls Boris HARD into the post and Zukhov bumps really big into it (although the camera kinda misses it). I didn't really understand the finish, as Wahoo touches 3 corners, then Boris kicks him into the 4th, and the bell rings but DeRusha is waving it off and then people run in. I don't get it. I liked how Boris was trying to hang onto the ropes as Wahoo was dragging him around. Short and sweet, fun match with blood. LOW END NOMINATION.

I actually liked how appalled Verne was by the concept of this match on commentary. Kinda added to it I thought. Crowd was super into Wahoo and as soon as he starts bleeding and gets choked the crowd explodes into a Wahoo chant. Some of the whip shots with the chain looked super nasty. Zhukov's blade off the posting was pretty obvious but who gives a @#!*% , this is double blood here. Wahoo took a cool bump for Zhukov down the stretch even if it was sort of exaggerated looking and Wahoo followed it up with a cool tug spot. The Wahoo walk to the four corners with Zhukov's hands tied up was really well done. I don't see this as a sure thing for the set, but it's something that is rightfully in the discussion. @#!*% is Zhukov going to benefit from his opposition. That @#!*% might show up on the set at least a half dozen times.

Russian Chain Match: "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel vs. Boris Zuhkov (8/29/87)

Verne on commentary just couldn't understand how guys could have a match like this and the promotion in general since he wants real wrestling not any gimmicks. I agree with Dylan that it added to the match because it put the heat Boris for wanting it. Boris is good in this element as he has a weapon to constantly use and he doesn't have to worry about trying moves. I loved seeing Mike Tenay sitting ringside looking like a low grade Tony Montana as Wahoo is gushing blood in the ring after Boris brutalizes him with the chain. The fans are nuts for Wahoo and the blood going down his face pumped him up as he started beating the hell out of Boris with the chain itself along with using the chain to ram Boris into the post which brought out the juice from him. Boris would use the chain to his advantage as well as he slung Wahoo to the floor with it which prompted Wahoo to tug Boris with it so he could crash and burn. Wahoo tied the chain around Boris' wrists and dragged him around the ring to win the match. This had everything you wanted in a match like this and it wasn't very long either with all the action being hard hitting and meaningful no bullshit. This is a definite nomination to me.
