Iceman King Parsons & “Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. The Super Destroyers (Wild Bill & Scott Irwin) (12/9/83)

The faces jump the heels at the bell with Iceman being extremely pissed about being burnt at Reunion Arena with the burn on his face to prove it. Kerry finally settles Iceman down so the match can start and the action gets back to normal but that doesn’t last long as Iceman comes in beating on the D’s. Iceman shows fire but would have to battle both D’s since he is fighting mostly in their corner. Kerry would get sick of it though and jumped over there to help before being forced out by Bronko Lubich. Iceman would eventually fight his way to a hot tag to Kerry making it a 4-way brawl with Bronko trying to get control. Kerry & Iceman both just throw bombs on the D’s but they would fight back before Kamala shows up to attack Kerry getting revenge from Reunion Arena for the DQ. Brian Adias then shows up for a wild brawl before more faces come out to stand tall in the ring. This was a great segment that had loads of heat as they are finally getting some of the heat on Devastation Inc. for a main feud. This is extra material for sure.

Then we get a great video for David Von Erich to “Texas, When I Die” by Tanya Tucker that would be quite ironic a month and a half later. Extra material.

“Big Cat” Ernie Ladd vs. Kamala (12/9/83)

Ladd working babyface here is odd and he goes over by DQ in a match that wasn’t good.

American Tag Titles: The Super Destroyers (Wild Bill & Scott Irwin) © vs. Brian Adias & Iceman King Parsons (12/25/83)

The faces dominate the D’s early on especially Iceman who is on fire using dropkicks and headbutts. Adias spends most of his early part of the match with headlocks on the D’s keeping them grounded. During the match you can see Santa Claus walking around the area and I wonder if any in the crowd were smart enough to know that something was cooking later on. Adias was really boring it up here until the D’s finally got the heat on him. Iceman is great in the corner here rallying the crowd to get behind Adias and he does a good job being FIP working for the hot tag. Iceman comes in a house of fire but the D’s would soon get the advantage on him but Iceman would get a flash inside cradle on D #2 to win the titles. The D’s then jumped Adias and slammed him head first on the ring post with Adias flopping to the floor. Iceman then would eat a great looking superplex by D #1 and a diving elbow by D #2 before Adias runs them off. This was a good match but nothing more than that and I’ll put it on the block but isn’t something I would battle for.

“Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. Kamala (12/25/83)

Kerry comes out just firing away on Kamala but it wouldn’t last too long as Kamala starts hitting chops on Kerry to weaken him. Kerry would piss Kamala off as he hit a dropkick out of a test of strength that Kamala jumping up and down but he would eat a discus punch before a diving elbow drop and diving knee drop. Kamala came back though and got a nerve hold on Kerry with the fans going apeshit but Kerry would soon fight back before being tripped by Skandor Akbar forcing David Manning to call a DQ. Kerry then slammed Kamala right in the middle of the ring with Reunion Arena popping big. Once again another great segment but a match not worth a nomination but should be extra material.

No Rules Freebird Leaves Town vs. Kevin Leaves/Hayes Comes Back: Kevin & Mike Von Erich vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy & Buddy Roberts) (12/25/83)

Buddy gets rid of his wig before the match showing that he has grown some hair back. For a match with no rules and with such a stip this started out pretty dull as Mike spent most of the time on offense and he didn’t do much. Soon enough though the Birds would get the heat on Mike and they pounded on him for a while but he would get the hot tag to Kevin who comes in blazing away. Kevin would slam Gordy but would miss his 180 splash off the top rope allowing Gordy to set up the Oriental Spike which he locked on but not for long as Kevin used the ropes to spring off to break the hold. Kevin then locked in the claw as Mike would run in causing a 4-way brawl. Buddy would chunk Mike over the top rope and at this time Santa Claus gets closer to the ring then he would attack Von Erich then punched a fan who tried to jump him in a wild situation. The fans are going nuts as police gets around Santa to protect him. As this is going on the Von Erichs would get the pin on Gordy to win the match. Santa jumps up and down then attacks the Von Erichs proving himself to be Michael Hayes. Michael would hit a great piledriver on Mike before running away. This wasn’t a good match but the angle was scorching hot and a slam dunk extra.

American Heavyweight Title: “Gentleman” Chris Adams © vs. “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin (12/25/83)

If Adams wins this, Sunshine gets Precious for 5 minutes. This had some really good back and forth action to start off with both me looking good especially Adams who was very fluid in his actions. Adams would soon take control hitting some impact moves but would miss a diving kneedrop off the top rop. Garvin tried to capitalize but Adams would lock in an O’Connor Roll that Garvin would cutback using the tights to get the win and the title back. Sunshine is pissed off and tells the ref but he didn’t see it so the decision stands and we have a catfight afterwards. Fun while it lasted.

Buddy Roberts being the only member of the World Class Six-Man champs still in the territory says that the titles would be defended just outside Texas. Hayes then talks via telephone about the situation. Extra material.

“Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. Black Gordman (1/6/84)

Garvin comes out before the match talking shit to Adams and ends up attacking him so Gordman immediately takes advantage but Adams would hit a quick schoolboy to get the win. Garvin & Gordman then double teamed him after the match throwing him over the top rope to the floor.

The Missing Link vs. “Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich (1/6/84)

Link jumped Kerry at the bell along with Akbar until Kevin would show up to protect Kerry. Kevin would pump Kerry up on the floor who was bleeding and he came in the ring just kicking the shit out of the Link. Kerry would keep throwing shots even with Link firing in headbutts then dropkicked Link right to the floor. Link would come back in the ring where the brawling would continue with Kerry trying to stand tall against Link but the headbutts would sting him and would ultimately send him to the floor. Kevin then motivated Kerry again and he came back in the ring just beating Link’s ass hitting the discus punch while Kevin & Akbar joined the action in the ring prompting David Manning to call for a DDQ. This was very fun stuff and extra material.

1. Kerry Von Erich + Iceman Parsons vs Super Destroyers

Parsons is burned bad. So this should have a lot of hate. For a pair of big fellas the Super Destroyers bump and stooge around well. I was likeing what I was seeing until that shit finish. With that finish we needed more in the bout. It did have a great post match brawl afterwards. I liked it; but not enough for a nomination.

int: Kerry Von Erich, Iceman Parsons, + Brian Adias

- David Von Erich video

This has extra written all over it.

2. Ernie Ladd vs Kamala

This did nothing for me.

3. Iceman Parsons + Brian Adias vs Super Destroyers - Reunion Arena

This was a good bout. I'm with KrisZ on this. It feels like a bout that we would throw on as a low end nomination, but not a great bout where I would go to bat for it. Adias is so wrestling 101 he's robotic, though he was fine in his FIP role. The Destroyers were good in their role, and Parsons was Parsons so he was good. I liked the post match angle.

I discussed this bout elsewhere. Not a nomination, but I liked it as an extra.

5. Kevin + Mike Von Erich vs Terry Gordy + Buddy Roberts - Reunion Arena

As a match I won't give it a nomination. Though as an angle at the end it is a sure fire extra.

6. Jimmy Garvin vs Chris Adams - Reunion Arena

This is a total sprint. I liked this a ton. This is like Nitro in the 90's when we would get a 5 minute Guerrero/Benoit bout. I'm not going to nominate because of how short it was. At least with this bout the wrestlers weren't working like they were given 12 minutes +. That was my main problem with the bout from Romdam 21. The wrestlers worked it like a bout with time. This time the wrestlers worked a hot sprint of a bout. I'm waiting for Garvin/Adams to get the proper time to have a killer bout. From the 2 bouts the wrestlers have had with one another the chemistry is there to have a killer bout.

Not a nomination.

This was a boatload of fun. I liked this, but not a nomination.

Iceman King Parsons & “Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. The Super Destroyers (Wild Bill & Scott Irwin) (12/9/83)

This is too long to go on as an extra and not good enough to go on as a match.

David Von Erich video

I'm guessing that tombstone has "reserved for David Von Erich" engraved on it. Extra.

American Tag Titles: The Super Destroyers (Wild Bill & Scott Irwin) © vs. Brian Adias & Iceman King Parsons (12/25/83)

I really enjoyed this while it lasted, but it was structurally troubled. Felt like the first two acts of a really great long three-act match. Usually the Super D's don't hold my interest as well in longer matches, but they actually were strong throughout here. Felt like this could've/should've gone another 5-10 minutes with a proper babyface comeback. Lack of that makes the match seem incomplete, which is a shame, because it was on it's way to being a nomination.

“Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. Black Gordman (1/6/84)

Another potential extra for the Garvin file.
