Posted October 5, 200816 yr comment_5435019 I enjoyed this and I'm sorry they didn't show more Hoshino singles matches in general. He knew he was outgunned going into almost every match so whenever he found an opening, boy did he try to take advantage. Here, he duped Saito into missing a plancha on the floor and quickly followed with a perfect body press from the top and a piledriver on the outside. Just a great burst of energy. I always like his flurries of punches as well. Saito played an effective heel favorite with his deliberate but nasty offense. Hoshino earned a moral victory when Saito resorted to taking a DQ on the outside. This might not end up making the set, but I'll sure take it over most of those matches involving Cobra, Dynamite and Black Tiger. Worthy of discussion. Match appears on NJ TV 12/21/84 and NJ Classics 179
June 15, 200916 yr comment_5440750 Kantaro Hoshino vs. Hiro Saito - I love Hoshino keeps attacking Saito, preventing him from entering the ring. Too bad for him because Saito starts punishing him. Great sequence, especially for 1984 as Saito ducks a Hoshino cross-body that sends Hoshino flying over the top. Saito tries to fly on top of Hoshino but ends up on the pavement so Hoshino climbs the top turnbuckle and leaps to Saito on the floor. Good stuff. Saito misses a leap from the ropes which looked pretty sloppy. Sucks when that happens. You can see Saito getting frustrated in the end as he tries to put away Hoshino but can’t get the job done. I didn’t think Hoshino or Saito were far enough up the ladder to deserve the double countout. This was fun but it shouldn’t make it on the set.
August 15, 200916 yr comment_5442802 Too many awkward moves and blown looking stuff more this to make a set. I like Hoshino a lot and Saito had a nice tope, but I didn't think this was even much above average.
