This is a very enjoyable match. It was the sort of main event that made you wonder what it was all about when you saw it announced (no big feud or angle involved with any of the participants), but you didn't care once you saw the match.

Rotondo was such a great fit for the AWA and the style that they threw out there every week...I liked to think of him as what Verne wished Brad Rheingans could have been, or could become.

Curt Hennig & Mike Rotundo vs. Mr. Go (Ryuma Go) & "Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko (5/1/86)

Rotundo & Go work a nice paced section to start with both men working good mat exchanges. Hennig comes in and we get more of the same before Zbyszko comes in and the pace changes as Larry wants to use his strikes to go along with his hemming and hawwing. Zbyszko has some really great bumps here and the fans are hot when the faces take it to him especially Hennig who was fiery as shit. Zbyszko would eventually hit Hennig with a sweet back heel kick that sent Hennig flying to the floor and the heels work over Hennig for a bit before Rotundo comes in the ring and Gary DeRusha loses all control as these guys just won't quit pounding each other and he calls for a DDQ. This was a very fun match even with the crappy finish and I'll push this forward as a nomination.

Mr. Go is amusing because he theoretically wrestles a "flashy" style but everything he does is slow motion. Seriously he has some nice counters but they are almost too deliberate for the style he is working. The crowd really comes unglued when Larry takes a bump face first into the top turnbuckle and then he runs over to Trongard and shit talks him. Rotundo working multiple nip up spots out of an armbar was surprising. Larry takes a sweet bump and gets tied in the ropes almost in a Boston Crab position off of a Hennig shot and the crowd explodes again. AWESOME spot with Larry hitting his back heel kick to Hennig off of a break and Hennig taking a great bump to the floor. This ends up with all hell breaking loose and a thrown out match.

Not sure why I didn't nominate it though I remember the finish pissing me off.

Match was on disc title AWA on ESPN 4-16-08
