Posted October 6, 200816 yr comment_5435042 Spectacular match, really had the feel of an epic world title match. Good back and forth stuff at the beginning, and then we have a really great run of near falls at the very end. Blood from Wahoo, huge bumps on chops by Henning, awesome shit, and a probably top 10 match. May have liked this even more then the Henning v. Lawler series AWA ESPN Classics
April 30, 201114 yr comment_5470630 First part of this match was all Hennig doing his big Hennig bumps for Wahoo's offense. One of them was really spectacular, as he takes a high-speed Cassandro bump, wrapping himself around the turnbuckle in the corner on his way to the floor. Curt transitions back to offense, punching away at Wahoo's temple and Wahoo gets busted open right over his eye, and it bleeds really cool down the side of his head and spreading out over his chest. We get some good nearfalls, and Hennig cheats with his feet on the ropes to win. Afterwards Wahoo gets on the mic and says the pinfall was bullshit. This seems like a pretty easy NOMINATION right here. AWA on ESPN Classic 5/17/08, All-Star Wrestling 1988
January 14, 201213 yr comment_5492336 Early going of this slow moving but it's still fun stuff as they are building heat. Hennig ends up taking a lunatic bump to the floor on a corner charge and then another crazy bump over the ropes. I loved Wahoo kicking Curt in the shin to put an end to his boxing stance bullshit. Hennig actually takes over on Wahoo with a vicious chop and they do a fun toe-to-toe exchange before Hennig drops Wahoo with a leg snap. Wahoo gets busted open and Hennig actually head butts the cut but Wahoo fires up and starts reeling off offense for near falls, including a great twisting outside/in suplex. Hennig wins off of a cheapshot to the gut and a slongshot splash wit his feet on the rope. Wahoo dropping the bullshit line post-match was great as was his demand of a cage match with Curt that I don't think ever came. I think this should make the set. Bell-to-bell this can't be more than nine minutes and I thought there should have been far more heat built on Wahoo's cut for this to even approach being a top ten match. But it was a very good match.
May 21, 201213 yr comment_5503198 AWA World Heavyweight Title: Curt Hennig © vs. "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel (3/19/88) This wasn't long but damn it was great for what we got. Hennig is bumping like crazy which is what you want and Wahoo is bringing the pain with his chops before Hennig goes on offense with Wahoo getting the juice. Hennig getting the win cheaply was great considering his gimmick and Wahoo was fucking awesome after the match wanting a cage match then saying that the finish here was bullshit which wasn't bleeped. Definite nomination.
