Tiger and Cobra brought the athletic touches, Saito the viciousness and Takano a kind of talented-but-green vibe (reminds me of a young Dustin Rhodes.) Of course, one could argue that the juniors didn't have anything great to offer, because this lacked a really propulsive story arc or the crowd heat of the Tiger Mask days. I'll at least throw it out for discussion because it was fun to watch. Shown on both NJ TV 1/18/85 and NJ Classics 181
June 8, 200916 yr comment_5440384 This was pretty good, worked at a nice pace and I liked the nasty post match beatdown of Takano. Cobra and Black Tiger I think work better in a tag format where they can just do their stuff and get out, rather then try to put a singles match together. So go ahead and move this forward, would like to see what Will thinks, as this didn't blow me away or anything.
June 9, 200916 yr comment_5440478 The Cobra & Shunji Takano vs. Black tiger & Hiro Saito (1/18/85) - Early on, I was enjoying this. Saito choking out Takano only to see Black Tiger get the receipt shortly afer it begun was pretty cool way to start. Pretty solid match going back and forth with no real fuck-ups or flaws. When Takano is in, Saito and Tiger take turns working him over but when cobra comes in, Tiger and Cobra have a juniors match in the middle of the tag which was pretty cool and sped things up. Really solid tag that deserves to move forward. I would complain about the shmoz ending but Saito and Ueda lay waste to the foes and I love me some Ueda.
