Killer Khan & The Missing Link vs. Kerry & Kevin Von Erich (8/31/84)

Von Erichs work over Khan early in the match and he had great facials to sell this punishment. Kevin would then get double-teamed by the heels and then beaten by them singlely. Khan would miss a diving kneedrop though allowing Kevin to tag in Kerry who hit a great discus punch before locking in a sleeper. Link would break that up though and it would start a 4-way brawl with Akbar getting involved and as this is going on Khan hit an Oriental Spike on Kerry for the pin. Okay for what it was.

Kevin Von Erich vs. “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin (1/20/84)

The fans really hate Garvin and really want Sunshine here and it’s funny that Sunshine was the most over person in that promotion at this time. Kevin really works over Garvin on the mat with his headscissors and funky armbar. Garvin takes a lot of punishment here but he counteract by pulling Kevin down by the hair in a short lived offensive attack as Kevin would immediately regain the advantage. Adams & Sunshine would come out and distract Garvin so Kevin could roll him up for a win. This was basically a glorified squash match as Garvin got basically no offense.

“Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. Koko Ware (9/7/84)

Koko has quite the hairstyle going on here and is obsessed with Gary Hart before the match. Each man starts the match playing some cat and mouse before Adams goes on the offensive working on Koko’s left arm. Koko would start firing punches though before chunking Adams to the floor as he regains his composure. Adams would come back in though hitting a sunset flip for a nearfall then pounding on Koko before throwing him to the floor. Koko like Adams would get back in the ring and go back on the attack relentlessly on Adams. Koko was throwing bombs here on Adams who was tied up in the ropes before nuking him with a brainbuster. Koko would turn his attention to Hart again as they jawed at each other allowing Adams to recover and hit a swank Superkick for the win. Great stuff here and a nomination.

Next we get a promo with Gino & Nicola Roberts riding in the parking lot and this is a definite extra.

“Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. “Handsome Halfbreed” Gino Hernandez (9/7/84)

Gino again is awesome here garnering heel heat as the fans hate his guts. Kerry would get Gino in a backslide early on for a nearfall that would send Gino to the floor to regroup but when he got back into the ring Kerry grounded him and started working on his left arm before Gino dropped to the floor again. Gino would soon take advantage of Kerry missing a running shoulderblock into the corner and worked Kerry over really good. Kerry would fire some punches though to make a comeback by tieing Gino up in the ropes but Gino would break free and tossed Kerry to the floor. Kerry would get a sunset flip off the apron though as he came in for a nearfall before going for the iron claw. Gino would counter out of it twice and Kerry started throwing bombs on Gino who was selling this like a fucking champ. Kerry would put Gino in a bearhug as Stella Mae showed up to confront Nicola and as this happens Gino would break free throwing Kerry to the floor then threw him over the top rope for a DQ. Gino would then hold up Stella Mae but Kerry would make the save. I hate this fucking angle and it ruined a good match. Not a nomination.

Bill Mercer then visits Jake “The Snake” Roberts at his house and this is a slam dunk extra.

Mark Lowrance then interviews the babyfaces in the locker room about Chris Adams turning heel and this is extra material as well.

Wild Bill & Scott Irwin vs. Iceman King Parsons & “Rock n Roll” Buck Zumhofe (9/28/84)

This was a good match with lots of heat and everyone working hard but nothing terribly special although I throw this on the block because this may have been the best match I’ve seen between these teams.

“Rock n Roll” Buck Zumhofe vs. Norvell Austin (10/12/84)

Okay match but there was a big clip in it. The best part was after the match when the PYT’s destroyed Zumhofe and his radio.

Mark Lowrance then enters the heel locker room interviewing Jake & Adams about Adams turning heel and more extra material.

“Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. The Missing Link (10/12/84)

Link jumps Kerry at the bell but that’s a mistake as Kerry brawls with him before Link chunks him to the floor which Kerry would respond to by hitting a discus punch taking Link to the floor. Akbar would trip up Kerry and distracted Manning so Kerry could get thrown over the top rope. Kerry then skinned the cat and dropkicked Link into Akbar before rolling him up for a nearfall when Akbar would jump in for the DQ. Kerry would get double-teamed after the match until Mike made the save. Fun for what it was.

Then we get a promo with Gino at the airport, Jake in the junkyard, and Adams at home that is extra material.

More in the locker room with Lowrance and Kevin/Iceman for another promo. Extra material.

Iceman King Parsons vs. Killer Khan (10/12/84)

This had some fun back and forth action with both men getting their shots in and Khan doing his great selling. Iceman really lays in his shots but is too worried about Akbar and costs him to get caught with an “illegal chop” by Khan to get DQed. Horrible finish here.

Kevin & Mike Von Erich vs. “Handsome Halfbreed” Gino Hernandez & Jake “The Snake” Roberts (10/12/84)

Gino breaks out the double belts to prove he is OUR champion and the interaction with Jake & Nicola is pretty odd to watch. A loud We Want Stella chant goes up as the match is starting and it is horrible that she was basically the #1 babyface in the promotion at this time or at least equal to the Von Erichs. We start with a great exchange as Jake begs to start with Mike who would take him down before tagging in Kevin who would hit a swank Frankensteiner. The crowd goes nuts as Stella Mae shows up to confront Nicola taking the focus away from the match. Kevin does a good job of fighting off both heels before Jake comes in and takes control before tagging in Gino where that control went away. Kevin would work on Gino then tried his diving body press but met Gino’s feet in the air although Kevin would bounce back hitting his 180 splash on Gino for the quick win. Mike would get tossed to the floor allowing Kevin to get double teamed but Mike would come back to even the odds. Very fun stuff and I’m throwing it on the block although this was a very short match.

Next we get a video of Iceman & David Manning have a great time together at the Texas State Fair along with the Fantastics having fun wearing tuxedoes. Extra material.

Then we get a promo by Adams, Gino, & Jake after winning the Six-Man titles at the Cotton Bowl on 10/27 with Jake kissing Nicola and Gino holding all the belts.

Next we get clips of the Six-Man titles match between Kerry & Mike Von Erich with Bobby Fulton subbing for Kevin against Adams, Gino, & Jake.

The Missing Link vs. George Weingroff (10/27/84)

I love Weingroff but this was a squash.

- highlights Ric Flair vs Gino Hernandez - Ft Worth \

- highlights Gino Hernandez vs Mike Von Erich; Nicola debuts - Ft Worth

1. Kerry + Kevin Von Erich vs Killer Khan + Missing Link

This was fine for what it was. I liked the early baby face shine aspects of the match. Nothing else stood out to me.

int: Chris Adams + Sunshine

2. Kevin Von Erich vs Jimmy Garvin

I loved the bullshit stalling from Garvin. The crowd was hot. Kevin's Garvin strut was classic. Overall, I thought the work was kinda boring. I like Kevin on the mat, but this was too much. Plus Kevin took way too much of the match considering Kevin was going over. Not a nomination.

3. Chris Adams vs Koko Ware

I thought this was fun. I thought Adams arm work was sweet. He was working arm bars, key locks, and a Fujiwara arm bar. Koko took some neat bumbs, but not Memphis level bumps. I liked Koko's agressiveness while on offense. I feel this is a low end nom.

int: Gino Hernandez

This is a possible extra.

4. Kerry Von Erich vs Gino Hernandez

Gino is great at working the crowd into a frenzy. I thought the work was solid, and both wrestlers work well with one another Gino's stalling is so great.. Gino's facials are tremendous. The crowd reactions were huge and made this match feel special. It sucks that the wrestlers were the set up for Stella Mae and Andrea. Overall I thought the work was good enough for this to go forward. This is a low end nomination.

int: Jake Roberts

This should be an extra.

int: Kerry Von Erich

int: Iceman Parsons + Buck Zumhoffe

Zumhoffe must be on some good shit.

5. Long Riders vs Iceman Parsons + Buck Zumhoffe

I thought this was good stuff. The Irwins had some fun stooge spots here. Zumhoffe is a weird worker. Zumhoffe,Hog Irwin, and Steamboat came out of the same Gagne training camp so Irwin and Zumhoffe should have worked each other countless of times. At points it dragged, but overall I liked it and will throw it on the block.

6. Buck Zumhoffe vs Norvel Austin

Too much of a clip to give it a fair shake.

int: Jake Roberts + Chris Adams

This was a tremendous segment. I feel it's an extra.

7. Kerry Von Erich vs Missing Link

I loved how Kerry blew the skin the cat spot. This was over in a flash.

int: Jake Roberts, int Gino, int Adams

This was all good and extra material. Gino ripping off of Superstar was super.

int: Kevin Von Erich + Iceman Parsons

Parsons was great here. Kevin sums up the angles well. This is extra material.

8. Killer Khan vs Iceman Parsons

Parson's is a good opponent for Khan. Because of Parsons being short it makes Khan look much more the monster. I wasn't feeling this. The finish was the shits.

9. Gino Hernandez + Jake Roberts vs Kevin + Mike Von Erich

Gino is the man. I liked this a lot. That exchange that Roberts has with Mike at the beginning was fantastic. The reaction it got from the crowd was huge for something so simple. Roberts taking a hurricanrana from Kevin was neat. Overall, I liked what I saw but not enough time was given for it to distinquish itself among a lot of other matches. I give this a no as a nomination.

int: Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez, + Jake Roberts after winning 6 man title - Cotton Bowl

This was awesome and should make it as an extra. The win is played up huge.Adams chest is a total mess here.

10. Bobby Fulton, Kerry, + Mike Von Erich vs Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez, + Jake Roberts - Cotton Bowl

This is highlights

11. Missing Link vs George Weingroff - Cotton Bowl

Killer Khan & The Missing Link vs. Kerry & Kevin Von Erich (8/31/84)

I dug this, but it felt a bit on the short side. Link and Khan's post-match celebration was fun.

“Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. Koko Ware (9/7/84)

Agreed that this feels like a low-end nomination. I loved Koko's interactions with Hart, getting pissed that clean-cut babyface Adams was using heel tactics against him and getting away with it.

int: Gino Hernandez

I'll co-sign it as an extra.

“Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. “Handsome Halfbreed” Gino Hernandez (9/7/84)

I am a Stella Mae defender, but I am really not a defender of matches where the wrestlers involved get booked to play second fiddle to a separate angle. I can see what they were going for, and how the Gino/Von Erichs feud connects with the Gino/Stella Mae feud...I just didn't think this worked. But I agree with shoe that the body of the match was strong. Kerry wasn't afraid to take it to Gino, and Gino was such a great arrogant schmuck. I'll call it a low-end nom.

int: Jake Roberts

This is one of the best Jake Roberts promos I've ever seen, and think of what that means. Slam dunk extra.

int: Kerry Von Erich

int: Iceman Parsons + Buck Zumhoffe

Zumhoffe is on some great shit, and it is called ROCK 'N' ROLL, BABY!* Once again, I must opine about how sucktacular WWE Creative is, because this is the kind of awesome detail work you can put on an angle to help drive it home, and nobody ever does it anymore. It's become a totally lost art. Extra.

Wild Bill & Scott Irwin vs. Iceman King Parsons & “Rock n Roll” Buck Zumhofe (9/28/84)

"Beat It" is a great theme for the "Rock 'n' Soul" team of Parsons and Zumhoffe. Zumhoffe is a guy who is always really good at getting you fired up, but it rarely translates into making you actually care about him in the ring. This match was a rare exception, and probably the best performance I've ever seen from him. Not an offensive dynamo, but his stuff looked OK, he was as fired up as ever, and thought he looked really good off the hot tag at the end. Also have to give props to Scott Irwin taking that nasty spill to the outside onto the table and chairs. There was a bit of drag in this, but overall great, and it should move forward.

int: Jake Roberts + Chris Adams

Easy extra material.

“Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. The Missing Link (10/12/84)

The least interesting match between these two.

int: Jake Roberts, int Gino, int Adams

This was pretty neat.

int: Kevin Von Erich + Iceman Parsons

Strong promos from both men. Iceman never seemed to get a lot of time on the mic as a face, but he was really good. This is an extra.

Iceman King Parsons vs. Killer Khan (10/12/84)

This was a blast while it lasted, almost extra material, but that finish was just unforgivably dumb.

Kevin & Mike Von Erich vs. “Handsome Halfbreed” Gino Hernandez & Jake “The Snake” Roberts (10/12/84)

Not bad, but felt like it needed a babyface comeback at the end. I mean, I didn't really want to see Mike coming in off the hot tag, but still, I'm passing on this one.

Texas State Fair music video

A bit more nuanced of a gay music video than usual, but still an effective extra.

*and probably also cocaine
