Posted October 18, 200816 yr comment_5435278 DVD #20 9/6/85 (taped 9/6) - Matches also appear on Classics 207 Keiji Mutoh/Don Arakawa vs. Tony St. Clair/Ueda - Not much though I think it was the first time Mutoh made tape and it was obvious from his build and athleticism that he'd become a star. Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Super Machine (Superstar) - Decent but Superstar didn't really have enough offense to fill a 15-minute singles match. Inoki vs. Giant Machine (Andre) - All of their matches ran together by this stage. Andre sold Inoki's stuff pretty well, but he didn't have the offense to create a sense of back and forth. 9/13/85 (taped 9/13) Keiji Mutoh/Keichi Yamada/Kengo Kimura vs. Shinya Hashimoto/Kosugi/Kantaro Hoshino - I wouldn't say this was a masterpiece of structure or storytelling, but it was a crapload of fun as three future stars of the '90s tried to upstage each other over a surprisingly long match. All three had the crowd popping like crazy with early versions of some of their signature stuff. People will really enjoy this one, so it should go on the set. Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Giant Machine (Andre) - Best Andre match I've seen in a long time. He didn't really do anything different, but Fujinami played off him beautifully. He sold every choke and clubbing forearm like death. And the crowd hung on every blow when he rallied and tried to chop Andre down. He threw in a great tease of the scorpion. And the crowd was nutty with frustration when Andre's manager distracted the ref while Fujinami pinned him with a sunset flip. Perfect David vs. Goliath stuff and a nomination. Inoki vs. Super Machine - Episode ended in the middle of this, but it didn't appear to be any great loss.
