This featured one of those virtuoso Murdoch performances in which he brought enough stooging, bumping and violence for everyone in the match. He actually invented a move specifically to set up NJ double countouts. He kind of bounced his ass on the second rope and did a backflip over the top, pulling his opponent with him the whole time. Who else would create a move specifically to facilitate one type of ending in one promotion? Maybe Dundee? Anyway, Fujinami and Kimura gave high-energy performances as well, and Superstar played his role perfectly, staying out of Dick's way but popping in for really vicious clotheslines when needed. I loved this match. Nomination.

Match appears on NJ TV 11/29/85 and on NJ Classics 216

Tatsumi Fujinami & Kengo Kimura vs. Dick Murdoch & Masked Superstar

-Early on, Kimura plays FIP but the gaijin offense isn’t setting the world on fire until it goes outside. Fujinami leads Kimura back to their corner but when Kimura gets inside, Superstar grabs him before he can make the tag and throws him outside to Murdoch who then picks him up and rams him into the post. Crowd picks up when Fujinami gets tagged but the gaijin treat him much the same way. However, at one point, with Superstar and Fujinami outside, Murdoch decides to go over to Kimura (who is still hurt) and work on the ribs some more. Nice. Superstar is ok in this but I kind of wish that Murdoch and Orton had this tag. When the natives make their comeback, they work over Murdoch’s leg in the hopes they can soften him up for the Sharpshooter. However, Murdoch counters with a nice enziguiri. Later on, when he does get the Sharpshooter, Superstar saves with a sweet clothesline. One awkward spot as Murdoch gets kicked in the chest but it seems like he is selling the mouth. Weird. The ending was pretty freaking cool even if the outcome kinda sucked. Easy nomination.
