The early matwork was pretty bland but about 10 minutes in, Fujinami and Kimura began a focused attack on Sakaguchi's wrapped knee. That proved to be the key story, as they gradually took Inoki's sidekick out of the match. I thought they rushed the ending a bit. Sakaguchi's absence would have seemed more dramatic if they had worked Inoki over for a few more minutes. Instead, it felt more like Fujinami caught him off guard with the dragon suplex and Sakaguchi couldn't rush in to break up the pin. It still felt like a major upset, and the emotion on Fujinami's face showed how much it meant to him. I think it has to go on the set. Match appears on both NJ TV 12/12/85 and NJ Classics 220
June 7, 200916 yr comment_5440342 Tatsumi Fujinami & Kengo Kimura vs. Antonio Inoki & Seiji Sakaguchi - (MSG Tag Final) (12/12/85) - I really like the early parts of this match with everyone feeling each other out but keeping it moving at a nice pace. I don’t know if this makes sense but you can tell this is a rematch, where everyone is cautious because they don’t want to be the guy to screw-up and give the other team the advantage. For example, Inoki gets the death lock on Kimura who immediately goes to the ropes to break the hold instead of getting trapped in the bow and arrow. Also, where the first match had Team Fujinami dominate early and Team Inoki take control at the end, this one is much more back and forth early on. Minus some points for some miscommunication where it looked like Fujinami wanted a small package but Sakaguchi didn’t. The 2nd half is more of the back and forth action with both teams getting some offense in. Fujinami had Inoki locked in a Figure-4 but Sakaguchi didn’t break the hold but instead waited for a tag. This led to some killer leg work from Team Fujinami as they destroy his leg Horsemen style. Another killer stretch run that ends with the Dragon Suplex pin on INOKI!?!?! Sweet! I liked the other tag more (which means you guys will probably dig this one more) but this is still an easy nomination.
August 19, 200916 yr comment_5443042 I think the other tag was a bit better, but the end run with the demolition of Sakaguchi's knee, leading to the huge upset pin was damn great. Third the nomination, this was good shit
