You might not expect Murdoch's Southern style and Maeda's nascent shootstyle to blend. But actually, it worked fine, which I guess goes to show that the UWF of that era had a lot more in common with traditional pro wrestling than with, say, RINGS. I figure the match-up is interesting enough that I'll throw it on the block. But I could see it as a relatively painless cut when we're trying to trim this sucker down.
August 17, 200916 yr comment_5442901 I enjoyed this, all of the opening matwork was really slick, and they definitely worked stiff. This was one of the better Murdoch singles I have seen so far and it should move forward
September 5, 200916 yr comment_5443848 I loved all that early Maeda-Murdoch stuff on the mat. From Maeda working on Dick's arm to Murdoch countering the headlock with a chinlock. Good stuff. This is a fucking clinic. Too bad this wasn't the stuff Phil and I synched up to the other night. The match was moving along at a nice pace but I wasn't feeling that ending at all. It seemed like they were just about to hit a stretch run and then it stopped. I liked what was there and was digging the early matwork but it ended too abruptly and without a satisfying conclusion. I am not ready to put this in the LOVE category.
