Posted November 9, 200817 yr comment_5435647 Awesome interview from Gino. Another possible extra. 1. Gino Hernandez vs Jules Strongbow A fun angle with Kerry to start. This is another extra canidate. No match is shown. 2. Kevin Von Erich + Chris Adams vs Terry Gordy + Killer Khan This is hot to begin with, and we mean business. The early exchanges with Kevin and the heels was tremendous. The work was super tight. The monsters were perfect in their roles. Gordy's punches were off the chain. Khan's facials were great. I loved how the heels just pounded the hell out of Kevin. Hell that one regular fan got so excited his dentures popped out. Adams would tag in and would be the FIP. Here we start to work a match. We transitioned from a fight to a work. To top it off we get a fun post match. The finish blew, but this feels like a low end nom. VG - Pro Wrestling This Week tribute to Bruiser Brody - lots of match highlights plus an interview with Jerry Blackwell after Brody's death VG+/EX 3. Eric Embry vs Jeff Jarrett - Memphis We get a great KVE/Lawler video To the Rocky theme that should be an extra. 4. Kevin Von Erich vs Super Black Ninja Fun while it lasted. 5. Iceman Parsons vs Eric Embry I liked Iceman's liitle dance to start the bout. The crowd seems to be hot here. Ice busts out a killer looking snap suplex. Ice's selling of the missed Butbut was fun. I like this match, but not as a nomination. The post match angle was fun though. 6. Kerry Von Erich vs Jimmy Jack Funk The crowd is hot again. Parts of this I liked. The sleeper spots were beginning to wear on me though. The brawling on the outside was fun. Funk's bump off the discuss punch was great. Not a nomination. 7. Iceman Parsons vs Kendall Windham This was another solid bout, but not a nomination. 8. Michael Hayes vs The Avenger - Bill Dundee video 9. Kevin Von Erich vs Super Black Ninja This is another bout between the 2 that ends too soon. Muto looked state of the art as a worker.
January 7, 200917 yr comment_5436722 “Handsome Halfbreed” Gino Hernandez vs. Jules Strongbow (6/1/84) Kerry shows up before the match and calls out Gino for a shot at his title. Gino then tells Kerry that he has a baboon brain and starts a fight that would end up with Kerry running Gino to the floor. This is extra material. “Gentleman” Chris Adams & Kevin Von Erich vs. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy & Killer Khan (7/6/84) Kevin is hot for Khan to start the match and chunks him to the floor ASAP with Khan giving his great open mouthed facial. The match starts and the war continues between Kevin & Khan but Gordy & Adams get their shots in as well. Kevin gets his ass kicked to start but would fight back hitting a dropkick off the middle rope before tagging in Adams. The heels were awesome here working over Adams who would play the FIP well before getting the tag to Kevin after an uppercut. Kevin comes in cleaning house before eating a big clothesline by Gordy who would then tag in Khan to set up the Oriental Spike but ate the iron claw instead. Adams would superkick Gordy to the floor before Buddy Roberts would run in for the DQ hititng Kevin with his boot until Kerry showed up to make it a wild 6-way brawl. The Von Erichs & Adams would clean house to a wild pop and this should go on the block even with the DQ finish. Next is a Bruiser Brody tribute from Pro Wrestling This Week and we got to put this somewhere Then there is a whole bunch of stuff I’ve seen. Michael “PS” Hayes vs. The Avenger (11/11/88) Avenger is a jacked up masked jobber. Hayes is mega over here. Kevin Von Erich vs. Super Black Ninja (Keiji Muto) (11/11/88) Yet another match between these two that ends in a DQ after some short fun action.
March 11, 201015 yr comment_5448349 Gino Hernandez Interview Another fine promo from YOUR champion. “Handsome Halfbreed” Gino Hernandez vs. Jules Strongbow (6/1/84) The actual match is never shown, but the pre-match fracas between Gino and Kerry makes this extra material. “Gentleman” Chris Adams & Kevin Von Erich vs. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy & Killer Khan (7/6/84) This was a blast. Khan's open-mouthed stare with his tongue lolling around like a giant Amazon leech never gets old. It kinda goes without saying, but Gordy was such a great tag team wrestler. I mean, we went into this knowing about his work with Hayes and Roberts, not to mention his work elsewhere with Hansen and Doc, but he did great work on these discs teaming with Jimmy Garvin, Shaun Simpson, and, of course, Killer Khan as well. Really seems like a guy you could plug in with just about anybody, and he'd find a way to make it work. Really great wild brawl. One of the better ones, in fact, which really says something. This could fight for a top 20 spot on my ballot. It definitely moves forward. Pro Wrestling This Week tribute to Bruiser Brody I don't know if this belongs on the Texas set, since it covers so much ground, and his World Class run is just a small part of it. Kerry/Lawler "Going the Distance" Music Video An extra, but does it belong on the Texas set, or somewhere else?
