- Robert Fuller + Jimmy Golden promo\

- end of Eric Embry, Brickhouse Brown, Jeff Jarrett vs Iceman Parsons, Kamala, Skandar Akbar

- Iceman Parsons promo

1. Samoan Swat Team vs Michael Hayes + Wahoo McDaniel

Wahoo was known as being a huge draw with J.Valentine in Texas. This was mediocre at best. It just didn't click for me.

- Brickhouse Brown promo

2. Eric Embry vs Skandar Akbar - Gary dresses as a woman attacks before match

This was a cheesy great angle and a low end extra.

3. Eric Embry vs The Beast - Beast, Gary Young, Iceman Parsons, + Cactus Jack attack Embry

Angle where Brown gets whipped like a slave by Parsons. The angle was great and super heated. This is another possible extra. It seems this period has some serious hot shotting of angles.

4. Jeff Jarrett + Brickhouse Brown vs Cactus Jack + Iceman Parsons

Jack is awesome in his bumps and making the faces shine. The stooge spot where Jarrett crawled between Ice's legs and Ice would take the face bump was fun. A big smooze. More of a set up for an angle than a match.

5. Samoan Swat Team vs Kamala + Botswana Beast

The Kamala/Beast worked over Samu's arm like a pair of cannibals. Samu even had an ugly looking bruise. Fatu is busted open. I thought this was a total blast. Even with the blown clothesline spot this feels like a low end nomination. I thought Akbar's team were good here and the SST was good in the face role. The finish was neat as well. Good match.

6. Eric Embry vs Gary Young

This was fun while it lasted. These angles are all the same. Talk about dilluting the impact of these angles.

7. Kerry Von Erich vs Sid Vicious

Dusek's steroid comment was interesting. The atmosphere is electric here. This had potential to be a train wreck. Overall, much better than expected. KVE called as good as a match as possible. It had a Hogan/Warrior feel to it.

8. Eric Embry + Brickhouse Brown vs Iceman Parsons + Gary Young

Ice is so great as a chickenshit opportunist. Embry's is good at getting slaughtered. Young is solid, but sometimes his facials aren't their and sometimes lacked fire. I thought he bumped well. Brown was just fun with an amazing dropkick. This starts out hot. The Parsons/Brown pairing was built up so well the crowd was creaming themselves. The double sleeper spot was great. Especially how Parsons helping Young escape. Overall I liked this a lot. The way the wrestlers worked here made for a compelling match. I'll put this up for nomination.

int: Kevin Von Erich

int: Skandar Akbar - Jimmy Jack Funk comes out and gets attacked by Cactus Jack; Funk's face turn

I bet these men could have a good match with one another. A protege of Dory vs. a protege of Terry Funk.

Too short.

It's amazing how WCW gave Robert Fuller that horrid gimmick whe he went their in 93. He is such a great talker.

This starts with Fuller & Golden sending in a promo about Texas.

Brickhouse Brown, “Flamboyant” Eric Embry, & Jeff Jarrett vs. Kamala, Iceman King Parsons, & Skandor Akbar (12/9/88)

This picks up where it left off the week before on Romdam 34. Brick plays FIP and takes some punishment from the heels as Embry drops to the floor grabbing the mic getting the crowd to chant for Brick but the beatdown would continue. Iceman spends too much time dancing around so as he goes back to work on Brick he would get snookered in with an inside cradle for a pinfall. The faces would get beatdown after the match as Brick eats a piledriver by Iceman during the fracas. Iceman would then further embarrass Brick after the match by paintbrushing him numerous times before leaving. The match was fun but felt short of a nomination.

Iceman then cuts a great promo on Brick and this could be extra material.

World Class Tag Titles: The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) © vs. Michael “PS” Hayes & Chief Wahoo McDaniel (12/9/88)

Wahoo in World Class is odd but he was a legend in Dallas for years. SST coming out to Don’t Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin is still hilarious to me. Wahoo fires in the chops on Samu and the fans are really into seeing Wahoo here. Hayes plays FIP here and is awesome in that role with the SST just taking it to him and selling the beating very well. Hayes would hit a DDT on Samu and slowly worked his way to the hot tag on Wahoo who would clean house by clunking the SST’s heads together which they no-sold of course with the story being that Wahoo forgot about their Samoan heritage but Wahoo would hold his own fighting back. Roberts would throw a chair in the ring that Hayes would get and would crack it over the SST’s heads as Bronko Lubich calls for the DQ

Brickhouse then cuts a promo on Iceman retorting what he said earlier.

Then we get the Gary Young as a woman angle again.

“Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. Chico Cabello (12/10/88)

Squash and Embry gets destroyed by Devastation Inc. after the match until Adams & Brickhouse run out to make the save and this is an extra.

Brickhouse Brown & “Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. Cactus Jack & Super Black Ninja (Keiji Muto) (12/23/88)

Cactus & Muto on the same team is great. This is JIP until the end when Iceman shows up with ether and used the rag on Brick before whipping him like a slave as Embry gets handcuffed to the bottom rope. This is a definite extra.

Brickhouse Brown & Jeff Jarrett vs. Cactus Jack & Iceman King Parsons (12/18/88)

This starts out great as Cactus takes a lot of punishment bumping all over the place and Iceman doesn’t want any part of the action refusing to tag. Iceman would tag in as Jarrett is getting beaten by Cactus and takes it to him using a big clothesline. Jarrett confusing Iceman by crawling through his legs to get the tag to Brick was great and of course as soon as Brick hit the ring Iceman went running. Gary Young would soon show up for a shitty DQ but Embry would run out to even the odds. More fun stuff with these guys.

World Class Tag Titles: The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) © vs. Botswana Beast & Kamala (12/18/88)

Fans chant for SST immediately and the brawl is on at the bell as the Africans just pound on the SST. Fatu juices quickly and just fires a big thrust kick on the Beast before it settles down with Kamala & Samu where they really focus on his right arm which bruises really quick. The camera work on the bruise was really good as Fatu roots on his partner in the corner with blood streaming down his face. Samu works with one arm before finally getting the tag on Fatu who would get some offense in before the numbers game catches up to him. There was a bad botched clothesline by the Beast on Fatu but the fans didn’t react to it. Fatu would finally tag in Samu before it turned into a 4-way brawl where Beast would miss his splash off the top rope but Fatu wouldn’t miss with his for the pin. The fans go nuts for the SST here and this was really well done considering the heel vs. heel dynamic. Solid match and a nomination no doubt.

“Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. “Gorgeous” Gary Young (12/18/88)

Again this match was basically a backdrop for yet another angle involving the two crews. It was a lot of fun though.

“Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. Sid Vicious (12/18/88)

Sid being here is odd to see as well and has Akbar in his corner. I tell you what this was a damn good match with lots of heat considering Sid was green as hell and Kerry had his moments at this time. It ended on a countout as Kerry bashed Sid’s head on the fire door with both men being counted out. Fun stuff.

Brickhouse Brown & “Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. Iceman King Parsons & Gary Young (1/6/89)

Here are your two hot angles in the promotion all in one match and everyone delivered here. Lots of fun action with the heels being great in their roles especially Iceman and the faces being really hot especially Brick who had his working boots on. TV time would run out but they would continue the next week where they left off with Embry being an awesome FIP and that whole sequence was really good. Super Black Ninja would run in for the DQ which sucked but the newly turned Jimmy Jack Funk would run in to make the save. Finish sucked but this match was great and a nomination.

Kevin then cuts a promo on Super Black Ninja.

Then we get the Jimmy Jack Funk face turn involving Cactus Jack and this is a good angle.

Jeff Jarrett & Kerry Von Erich vs. The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) (1/6/89)

SST get chants here again as the fans are taking a shine to them even against Jarrett & Kerry. This had some fun action as Jarrett plays FIP and the SST were solid in their work. Kerry would get the hot tag and cleaned house getting the iron claw on Samu before that got broken up. Kerry would get sent to the floor so the SST could work over Jarrett but as this happens Buddy jumps on the apron with a chair to hit Jarrett but hits Samu by mistake and Jarrett follows with a pinfall for the win. The faces would get their ass kicked after the match until Kevin runs out to make the save. Fun stuff but there was a big clip in the match that spoiled it.

Fuller & Golden then send in another taped promo.

Lawler then sends in a taped promo with his new unified title belt followed up by a video of Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi and this is good stuff. Extra material.

Bill Dundee sends in a taped promo.

Then we get clips of Embry regaining his Lt. Heavyweight title from Cactus Jack on 1/6/89.

Brickhouse Brown gets jumped after a squash match by Iceman & Young and they put a dress on him along with some makeup. Extra material.

“Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. Gary Young (1/27/89)

This is nothing but a schmozz involving Jarrett & Cactus.

Fuller & Golden send in yet another taped promo.

Texas Death match for the Texas Heavyweight Title: Iceman King Parsons © vs. Brickhouse Brown (1/27/89)

This is nothing but a brawl as both men just beat each other’s ass before Iceman takes the first fall with a brass knux shot. Iceman continues to beat on Brick then grabs the mic demanding that Brick call him his master but he wouldn’t do it so he just whips his ass some more this time on the floor. Brick would finally get his second wind though and pulled Iceman to the floor and started throwing bombs before bringing it back to the ring for more. Brick would pop Akbar who would signal in the Devastation crew who would jump Brick until Embry, Funk, & Jarrett would even the sides. The match would be thrown out giving Iceman the win and this is a definite extra.

- Robert Fuller + Jimmy Golden promo

Rob Fuller talks military history, which I dug.

- Iceman Parsons promo

"You belong to me, sucka...can you dig it?" Hmmmm....

World Class Tag Titles: The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) © vs. Michael “PS” Hayes & Chief Wahoo McDaniel (12/9/88)

I looooooooove the SSTs using "Don't Worry, Be Happy" as their theme music. Absolutely one of my favorite wrestler/theme combos ever. I also love me some Wahoo McDaniel, but he is pretty washed up by this point, and Hayes looks like he's starting to give up the ghost himself. The SSTs keep this interesting, but it's not much more than that.

Eric Embry vs Skandar Akbar - Gary dresses as a woman attacks before match

Fun angle and a nice beating. Definite extra.

“Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. Chico Cabello (12/10/88)

Another attack on Embry, though this one gets a more timely save. Possible extra.

Brickhouse Brown & “Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. Cactus Jack & Super Black Ninja (Keiji Muto) (12/23/88)

Another Devastation Inc. beatdown for another hot angle. Extra.

Brickhouse Brown & Jeff Jarrett vs. Cactus Jack & Iceman King Parsons (12/18/88)

Give the bayface comeback a little bit more time and this would go on the block. As is, it still looks like a suitable extra.

World Class Tag Titles: The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) © vs. Botswana Beast & Kamala (12/18/88)

Wow, those are four really hard heads. Who knew the SSTs vs. Kamala/Kamala II match would have so much limbwork in it? Who knew that the SSTs would rule as the most unlikely blowjob babyface team since Roberts & Nord? This was a blast, and it will go pretty high on my ballot.

“Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. “Gorgeous” Gary Young (12/18/88)

It works, but by this point, you kinda want a more substantive match from this feud.

“Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. Sid Vicious (12/18/88)

This was shockingly good. Sid rarely looked better than he did here. This actually just fell shy of getting a nomination from me.

Brickhouse Brown & “Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. Iceman King Parsons & Gary Young (1/6/89)

Now this is what I've been waiting for from this feud. Great, white hot tag team action. Grade-A stooging from Iceman early on, as he really doesn't want to be in this match. Only gets tagged in when Young slaps him on the back of the head while Parsons is looking the other way, and then Young hangs off of the ringpost to avoid being tagged back in. Iceman looks like he's going to cry when he realizes he has to go toe-to-toe with Embry and Brickhouse. Also had that great segment where they were basically having parallel matches (Iceman vs. Brickhouse in the ring and Embry vs. Young outside), and Akbar getting on commentary talking about how the greatest American heroes were Benedict Arnold and Richard Nixon. This moves forward.

int: Skandar Akbar - Jimmy Jack Funk comes out and gets attacked by Cactus Jack; Funk's face turn

I've never been to Texas in my life, but after watching all this stuff, I can't help but feel like I have a little bit of stake in the state, so I loved this. Extra.

Extras.

Texas Death match for the Texas Heavyweight Title: Iceman King Parsons © vs. Brickhouse Brown (1/27/89)

I wasn't feeling this, which kinda took me by surprise. Highlight for me was Marc Lowrance not knowing what the rules of a Texas Death match were. If you look carefully, you can see Frank Dusek stopping him in the middle of a comment about how many "seconds are left in the round", shaking his head, and then taking off his headset so he can explain the rules to Lowrance. It's 1989, and Marc Lowrance has been working for this promotion for the entire period our footage covers. It's not like there had never been a Texas Death match before in Texas. Did he sleep through Gordy vs. Khan?
