DVD #7

April 13th: Hiroshima - I was wrong about the cross-promotion. The talk show stuff seems a permanent addition to the show.

Shiro Koshinaka vs Akira Maeda - JIP and only about six minutes shown. This was pretty good, but I never got the sense that Koshinaka had a chance to win.

Tatsumi Fujinami vs Bam Bam Bigelow - This was the first in a series of matches designed to showcase Bam Bam's agility. He won it with a sunset flip. That's all well and good. But Fujinami had spent the whole match chopping at Bam Bam's legs like he was a monster. So it seemed incongruous when the big man unleashed virtually no power offense.

Kengo Kimura & Antonio Inoki vs Randy Candy & Bad News Allen - Lots of clubbing offense from the gaijin. Some fun nods to Kimura's recent boxing training. No ending shown on TV. No nomination.

April 20th: Shimonoseki

Shiro Koshinaka & Tatsumi Fujinami vs Black Tiger & Dick Murdoch = JIP. Interesting group of wrestlers here, but they just kind of threw some moves together instead of building any kind of plot.

Akira Maeda vs Bam Bam Bigelow - It was fun to watch Maeda kick Bam Bam's ass, and I think they could've had a fun match just blasting each other. But this was another showcase for agile Bam Bam. He needed to do more to make it seem worthwhile.

Antonio Inoki vs Bad News Allen - I've never enjoyed this match-up, because Bad News never stepped outside of the basic few things he did, and Inoki never treated him with enough respect that the result seemed in doubt.
