DVD #13

August 20th: Ryogoku

IWGP Jr.Heavyweight Championship Tournament (Digest) - They showed lots of highlights from the tourney and most of the Kobayashi/Takada final that I reviewed elsewhere.

August 24th: Korakuen

Tatsumi Fujinami vs Dick Murdoch - Condensed version of their usual match. They generated plenty of heat with the brawling finish, but overall, it wasn't their best match or something that needs to be on the set.

September 1st: Fukuoka

Keichi Yamada vs Mark Rocco - JIP. Good, fast-paced juniors action, but it didn't have the time or story to become anything exceptional. Yamada did the shooting star for perhaps the first time on tape, which was cool.

IWGPTag Championship/Nobuhiko Takada & Akira Maeda vs Kazuo Yamazaki & Yosiaki Fujiwara - Another excellent match from the UWF crew. The Fujiwara-Maeda section stood out most, though compared to their singles match three days earlier, the violence seemed modest. It felt like a big step for Yamazaki when he got the win over Takada. I didn't mind the sudden nature of the fall, because that works best when it's an underdog catching the more established guy off guard. The work between those two was good, not great. Anyway, it's a yes vote, and I probably liked it more than their 5/25 match.

IWGP Heavyweight Championship/Antonio Inoki vs Dick Murdoch - This continued onto the next episode. Fine match but not on the level of their best stuff from the previous two years.
