Adams didn’t even have good looking superkicks Tiger Mask vs. Villano III (6/24/81) After really hating the first two matches on this disc, I was dreading working my way through all of this stuff. Thank you Villano 3, I really dug this, as we had lots of mat work and standing counters with everything looking really slick, which was especially impressive considering how awkward Sayama can often look. Finish was a little abrupt with Tiger Mask hitting a dive and winning by countout. It felt like it had more time to go. Still going to nominate it, but the ending keeps it from a slam dunk. Tiger Mask vs. Scorpio (8/6/81) Fun to see youngish Scorpio, and he looked good, but this was pretty JIP and nothing special. Tiger Mask/El Solitario vs. Brazo de Plata/Brazo de Oro (8/21/81) JIP right at the finish Tiger Mask vs. Brazo de Oro (8/28/81) Also pretty JIP, Oro is really leaning into to Sayama’s shit, including getting drilled in the face with his spin kick and making his spinning back breakers looking brutal, still more awesome for the fact that it is early 80’s Brazo De Oro then it is as a match Tiger Mask/Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Pete Roberts/El Solitario (9/4/81) This was a bunch of fun, Roberts and Solitario are guys I have seen very little of, so it was cool to get to see what they could do. TM hit all of his stuff clean, and had a couple of really physically impressive spots. Solitario looked really good and his signature bump is insane. Nomination. Tiger Mask Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Brazo de Plata/Brazo de Oro (9/9/81) This started with an absolutely awesome Oro v. Sayama mat section, done really slow with a hard to describe but spectacular arm reversal. Rest of the match wasn’t very good though, as Sayama blew everything he tried including missing his corner flip and landing on his head. Cool to see the Brazos, but this was disappointing. Tiger Mask vs. Brazo de Plata (9/17/81) This is a slim Super Porky, without any of his signature spots. Some stuff was done well, but Porky looked a little green and didn’t have it in him to carry Sayama. Still 81’ Super Porky. Tiger Mask vs. El Texano (10/16/81) Texano’s offense looked really violent, with some cool throws, but there were large sections of this when they were completely on different pages. Tiger Mask/Gran Hamada vs. El Signo/Negro Navarro (10/23/81) JIP, Hamada looked good as did the MDM, but we didn’t get enough
