DVD #10

5/14/82 - Matches also on Classics 124

Sakaguchi vs. Abby - I normally like this match-up, but this edition never kicked into gear for me. They hit each other with objects and bled a lot, but it never felt violent or unhinged, which is what they seemed to be going for. Hogan came to Sakaguchi's rescue, setting up his own mini-feud with Abby.

Les Thornton vs. Hoshino - I like Thornton, but they never seemed in sync. Hoshino was surprisingly sloppy for a veteran.

Hulk Hogan/Buddy Rose vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu/Fujinami - Nothing wrong with it. Nothing leaped out to say it was really good either.

5/28/82 - Matches also on Classics 125

Tiger Mask vs. Black Tiger - Yeah, if flashy juniors work is your thing, this was about as good as you were going to do in 1982. The quickness of all the reversals and kip-ups in the opening section was pretty damn impressive, even by 2008 standards. It should go on the set.

Fujinami/Sakaguchi vs. Bad News Allen/Perro Aguayo - Heavily clipped. This featured soem good action between Aguayo and Fujinami. It's worth checking the full version on Classics, though it didn't strike me as a likely nomination.

Hulk Hogan vs. Abby - Great brawl here. Hogan bled severely for our entertainment and tossed in a vintage hulk-up. Abby expertly worked his sneaky weapon gimmicks. The fight through the stands felt chaotic rather than pro-forma. I'm happy to push this forward.
